Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.
What did you do to your SV today? (mods, farkles, maintenance, etc)

Pulled the front wheel off of the project bike. It had been sitting exposed to the elements for a few years before I got it, so I was surprised it cleaned up as well as it did, and fairly easily. The clean pic was the side I did in about 5 min with a greenie and Simple Green.
So I've heard! It has a ceramic coating on it now to prevent oxidation, etching, an some slight scratching/marring but I am an avid detailer so it will stay in tip top shape.
It really does. Funny enough, I didn't know the white stripes on mine had flake in them until I hit it with the first pass of compound. It really pops now in the sun.
The only rattle can clear that will hold up to gasoline is the 2K clear in special cans. By time you purchase those you are nearly at the price of the gun I used, and you would still have to rattle can your base coat which will suck. The gun gives way more control.
Getting ready for an extended weekend at Myrtle Beach.
Did the chain today, not much else to do except gas and
go on Friday morning! Might hit it with the old Pro Honda Polish
Cleaner, but not going to go crazy cleaning it since we will
run in to storms off and on.
Pulled the front wheel to get my new Pilot Power RS installed today. Cleaned the brake calipers and installed new Vesrah RJL pads. I was surprised at how much brake dust was stuck to the exposed areas of the pistons, and how difficult it was to remove. Cleaned and lubed the sliding pins also.
Next is pulling the forks and installing the correct rate Sonic Springs and new fluid. Then the new Ohlins rear shock goes on.
I'm hoping the new suspension will be a noticeable improvement.
Stripped down the fuel pump again and got the seeming dead fuel pump working again with the help of carb cleaner, a small probe and a direct connection to the battery. Got it all back together and on the second push of the starter got the bike started again for the first time in 3 years. Was idling a little rough at first but she soon got over than and away we went for a short test ride. Amazingly everything is working, brakes are a bit slushy and in need of a fluid change but other than that, its seems all good.
Changed the air filter, clean and adjusted the chain.
Checked all four plugs. Manual says to replace at
7,500 and 14,500??? They are Iridium plugs and look
fine.
Now I just need to clean it. Still dirty from the camping
trip 2 months ago!
I might be bias, but I think my SFV shines up really good! The black on black makes all the difference with the crazy paint schemes they started out with. I saw one in person at Cycle Gear and it was kind of ugly with the silver headlight ears, white gas tank, etc. it's almost as if Suzuki didn't know which way to go with the color scheme!
Black on black looks good to me...
Wish the rear stays were black but otherwise I like it!
Oh by the way it's never seen one drop of water from cleaning it. (I don't think thunderstorms count) All I've ever used is that pro Honda cleaner polish in the aerosol can. Then again it's all been road grime no mud to wash off!
Rode it for the first time with the new Sonic Springs, Ohlins shock, Vesrah RJL pads, and Pilot Power RS. Made some basic adjustments last night and set the sag.
Feels much more planted than it ever did. The PP RS has a more pointed profile than the BT-016 Pro I had on it, and tips-in a bit quicker. The RJL pads have more initial bite and feel good.
I need to get more time with it, but so far I'm really happy with the changes.
Bought some spanner sockets from another member and got them in yesterday. Got all of them loose on the project bike and also removed the stator cover. Good news so far in that the stator and magnets look good. Better news that there was one small part with light surface rust, but the majority of the internals that could see were rust free. Unbolted the clutch side but couldn't get the cover off. Will re-try tomorrow and hopefully not see any rust on that side either.
