Got a Battery Tender Jr. for my birthday :D
Basic routing
Image

I like it under the rear seat as, obviously, it comes off with the key, so it's secure but still easy to access, while not being 100% outside the bike. I'd originally planned on routing it out near the frame somewhere, but I like this a lot better.

w00t Italian Flag zip-ties! Should make finding it in the dark in the garage a little easier.

And finally, plugged up:

Now I just need to get a longer extension cord to plug the BTjr into, and run a cable cover across the floor so we're not tripping over it ;)

The past few days installed:

frame on engine
swingarm
shock
mud guard
steering bearing races (only thing left is pressing the lower bearing on the stem)
fairing stay
instrument cluster
subframe
replacement undertail with custom fender eliminator
right rearset with peg
rear brake master
left rearset (plate only)

Right now it looks like:

Today I bought new spark plugs, undertail and tail light hardware, and license plate bolts. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I will:

replace spark plugs
install radiator
press on the lower steering stem bearings
install steering stem
install front forks with wheel assy
replace existing front wheel with replacement p/c'd wheel
install rear wheel

Bought a bunch of tools and hardware that I've been needing.

My bike has been sitting with five small unfinished projects due to bad tools...

Wow... right tool for the job? What a luxury!! 10 minutes later and she's all buttoned up... then apart because I started something else...

Put the TB back in, took a short ride to check
fixed throttle cable play
fixed idle speed
checked and cleaned sparks
im bout to do the tps adjustment

he did leave the keys right?? :naughty:
Yes, yes he did. I was quite pleased that he did. Part of the deal for storing it in my garage.

That's a REALLY BIG "T-handle" on the right, there. Unless I miss my guess (since it's out of focus), that one's a .45 caliber T-handle? :p
Haha that's a Beretta airsoft gun. I need more pellets though. My dad shot them all at various birds that visited his house when I left it there.

Rode it. Got ****** at a pedestrian that waved me by at a cross walk, then walked anyway and I had to stop abruptly. I then took off hard, once I hit 2nd I pinned the trottle and the front came up...high! My 650 never did that. But im sure the ole lady's weight on the back helped. She freaked out, but it was a nice controled pull and land. I was smiling behind my helmet as she was punching me in the ribs.

Thankfully, I didn't do the work but I had a few things done to my new-to-me-SV. My mechanic replaced what had to be the original chain and sprockets with 20,000 miles on them. I have NEVER seen a chain so bad! Changed to Amsoil with the generic HiFlo filter. Installed the beautiful Chinese made levers on both sides. The clutch was dragging the bike so he cleaned and lubed the release mechanism which seems to have solved it for now. I figure the plates are "oil-logged." The rear brake wasn't returning, either, so he solved that. Checked the charging system and it showed good. That's about all but since I'm now paying someone instead of doing it myself, it seemed like plenty.

Sounds like you brought a ready for the junk yard SV back to life, great job! I hope it brings you many happy miles!

well i just replaced the rear set on the left side & i can not get into second gear for some reason, got any suggestions & she is dead.. i need a new battery i think :sbmfacepalm:

i know sometimes when my bike is off it will not shift as easy, so since you cant get it started up it may be that the transmission just doesn't shift well when not running. try rocking back and forth while shifting and see if that helps any.
