I installed the Steve's aTRE last night and that took a whole 10 minutes. Piece of cake.

 

Cleaned up the headlight and turn signal wiring, removing crimp connectors and useless taps and wrapping it better. Figured out how to mount my Radio Shack dash and then wired it up so it's ready for installation. Cleaned up the wiring harness and prepped it for the dash install.

 

Only a few k on them. Every time I've ever pulled them they were spotless...

 

installed aTRE yesterday and rode it to work this morning. Not a huge difference but a bit smoother in stop and go.

Also fitted my garage door opener under the front fairing, hidden from public eye but I can reach it with my right hand while holding the clutch with the left when pulling into my driveway

Nice electrical work.. looks like you had the parts bought already a while back! (our Radioshacks went out of business sometime last year if I recall correctly)

 

Bought them last week actually. There are several physical Radio Shacks still open in New York's Capital Region. (Surprisingly!)

 

I removed the reflective wheel stickers that the original owner installed. After trying multiple solvents and a heat gun, with no real luck, I found a post on another bike forum that suggested plastic razor blades. They worked pretty well, but it was still quite a bit of work. Guardsman dry cleaning fluid was very effective at removing the glue residue.

I also installed a simple, LED battery monitor from Gammatronix. I mounted it in one of the fairing supports where it can be easily seen while sitting on the bike but doesn’t intrude into normal view.

Installed my new MadScientistMoto brake and clutch levers! They're extremely nice pieces for $56 shipped. Also threw on the new CRG lanesplitter mirror on the left side.

 

Put it on eBay due to my bad knees. Getting old sucks!

Fixed the PO's wiring mistakes for the Vapor speedo/tach.

A short in the 12v+ wire wasn't helping. His plugging the power jack into the tach socket and the tach jack into the power socket wasn't helping much either...

So now I have a tach and it appears I've been rumbling around at 3K and rarely go over 5K.

 

Put my new chain on, Did some fiber-glassing on my R6 belly pan to fit around my Yosh exhaust, cleaned the brake calipers and put new race pads in. Cut some notches in my custom sub frame so I can mount my penske reservoir, and cut some of the upper R6 fairing to clear my brake lever. It's been kind of a pain in the A$$ fitting these R6 fairings to my 2006 SV

 

Noticed that my rad is starting to leak a little more than before. Time to think about getting a replacement, and considering Bighammer's idea of a Gen1 rad on my Gen2.

BH - if you see this I'd love to hear about everything that was required to make it fit...

 

Well yesterday I bought a Sena SMH5-FM for my helmet.

Ran out of gas. And found out my fuel warning lights don't work. In that order...

 

Check that plug under the tank. I did the same thing, turned out the plug wasn't plugged in all the way.

That was the long 5 miles I have ever walked/ pushed a bike :facepalm:

 

So I've dealt with a sticky throttle for a long time. Makes the bike a ***** to ride.
Tried all kinds of lubing and adjusting, and new cables with no luck. Disconnected the return cable today like I read on some other threads.
DAMN!!! This thing snaps shut like a freaking bear trap!

 

Picked it up from the shop. Got new Michelin Pilot Road 4's front and rear and a matching metal valve stem for the rear wheel. Front was already done because the rubber one broke and caused me to ride home on a flat tire. Hopefully these tires are as good as everyone says.

 

replaced leaking fork seals yesterday! Also sanded down rust spots on fork tubes that caused seals to break in the first place. 800,1000,2000 grit then polish. Replaced stock fork 'oil' (it was pink like hydraulics oil!) with 15W. Feels good!

 

I just picked up a 1st gen to put on the track for my teenage daughter to try out. Lots of little things to. Hopefully she keeps it on two wheels for a while.....

A few days ago, but I changed the oil and bled the brakes, the brake fluid was only a year old. So nasty.

Flushed the brake fluid front and rear yesterday, it was pretty nasty, you could feel it in the brake lever, feels smooth now. Also adjusted the chain slack, was loose enough where the backlash when letting on and off the throttle was jerky.

Today, I flushed out the coolant with some Honda Type 2.

 

Just found out the the rear subframe cracked up under the rear latch point (where the grab bar mounts). I think it's stress fractures from 30k miles of commuting with the small rack I have mounted vibrating. Dammit. Looking for a new subframe.

 

That sucks.
Someone on here was selling one not long ago.

 

Finally heard it running again after starting an engine tear down in December and having constant delays during the rebuild.

Still need to top up the oil, bleed the coolant system, reset the TPS, check the TB balance, PUT the body back on, and go for a ride. Later I'll clean the rear brake and bleed them all.
