Today I started putting my bike back together after my TL1000s frontend swap, rear shock swap, and flat black paint job...

Everything is just fitted to the bike right now so I could see what it is going to look like when I find some replacement bolts and nuts that I lost in the mayhem. I'd like to replace them with some stainless steel bolts anyways.

Took it to the shop to have them check the rear end mechanical bits after my little tap from behind last week. All that is good to go, so I just need to fix the cosmetic damage, and I'm back to good as almost new.

changed the oil in my steering dampener. works like a charm now!

also changed the oil and filter on my old yamaha, put new grips on it, straightened out the shift lever and rear brake lever, and put new buddy pegs on the back!

Have to find a 24mm socket to finally adjust the chain. I'm pretty sure it's a 5 minutes job, but knowing my luck with mechanic, I know it'll be longer than that by let's say...Maybe 2-3...hours more..

Installed new Pazzo knock off levers, ordered Penske 8983 shock and Traxxion front end internals :D

Changed the OIL/FILTER. Ordered a GEAR rear pack 52 liter capacity. I'm ordering a new front tire. Mine is 4 years old & summer is coming. In the Southwest that means extreme heat. I want to put it on the road for a few 1300 mile rides solo.

Had my Q2's installed last month... Took it to the shop today to have the Nitrogen put in the tires... NitroFill, can't beat the cost compared to what you get with the warranty... Need to wash her bad, gonna put that off till tomorrow when it rains... Saves on water.. lol

i just got back from 2 yrs overseas to a hibernating SV. installed new batt, changed oil, topped off brake fluid, aired tires and rode it around the hood. OHHOWIMISS! :D

will try and do more maintenance tomm.. bleeding/flushing brakes, lube/tighten chain etc

Adjusted the chain, had 2" of slack or more, now reduced to 1ÂĽ". Chain has 17 500 miles, and I want it to last more and more! :D

Tuned up my front brakes with Gaffer hoses & pads.
Better yet I bought a 5/8" master cylinder. The PO had put a 3/4" "Sport Bike" MC on it. Mucho better now.

** If it helps anyone: initially I had a hard time bleeding with the two brake lines as opposed to the one into two stock hoses. Doing a bleed with the single (original) banjo bolt on each line before installing the double banjo bolt will speed things up if you are not using a vacuum pump.

I dont know about that. I owned my last bike for 22 years. Probably still have it if I hadn't migrated to the USofA.

I'm with you Mg. I've been buying cars and bikes for about the same length if time, and have had far fewer bikes than I have had cars.

I tend to find what I like, and stick with it.

Went for a fun ride up Hwy 74 in Palm Desert and tried out a suction cup camera mount the I bought for my truck. I just has the camera mount on the front fairing right below the mirror, it wasn't very stable and loud from the wind noise. Next time I'll try it on my tank, but I was too lazy to change back to my clear wind screen :BangHead:.

backstory: a couple weeks ago, I was leading a group ride, mostly of bikes much faster than my 01 SV650. The closest rider to me was about 1/2 mile back or so but we were coming up on a LONG straight and I knew I'd have 3 or 4 bikes buzzing by me, or at least right up to me, before I got halfway down the straight. The last couple corners going onto the straight look fairly tight but in reality are barely even turns. I knew the guys riding with me would hit them fairly slow so I hit the first one in 5th gear and got into 6th by the time I got to the last corner. Sure enough, about 1/4 mile down the straight, I'm JUST shy of the rev limiter in 6th, past the point in the RPMs where peak power is made. I let it down just a hair but I'm still going down that straight at or near redline in 6th for about 2 miles.... At the next stop, I noticed the bike was dropping a cylinder at idle. I shut it off and let it cool down a bit. Head home and on the way, I could feel it dropping a cylinder every once in a while... Great. So, I park the bike for about a week and don't really worry too much about it. Last week, I got around to checking it out. Figured out which cylinder wasn't firing (horizontal). I was fairly confident it was getting fuel, I just rebuild the carbs a month or two ago and everything was spotless and in good working order, so I checked for spark. No spark on that plug. Tested the ignition coil and it was fine. Traced the wires from the ignition coil and they were connected and had good continuity. In my experience, all this = bad ECM, so I hit ebay and scored a used on for $40 (fingers crossed that it's not bad too, electronics on ebay make me paranoid lol)

Ebay special ECM came in today, so I installed it and the bike runs like a champ again. I need to rewire the rear turn signals and tidy up the wiring in the trunk so I left the tail off (not necessary, just gives a little more room to work)
