Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Last night I drained my steering damper to fill it with heavy oil thinking it needed it, but it turned out I didn't do too great of a job last time I filled it (I was in kind of a hurry) and there was a little bit of air in there leaving a little bit of free play in it.
Refilled it with 10w and no air gap this time so it's smooth from first pull right the way across.

got it running (well sorta, off a water bottle that i use instead of a fuel pump).
decided that while i could get it together and fully road worthy for another $600 or so, i'd rather part it out.
started pulling it apart and listing things in the thread http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239097&highlight=

eventually i'll have it all apart and make a nice big partout thread

I disconnected the trickle charger, thumbed the starter, and made sure it was still alive. It's showing signs of needing a synchronization, and maybe some other adjustments, because it's a little hard to start and struggles to maintain momentum even with the choke. After about thirty seconds, though, it runs smoothly and without a hiccup.

I let it run for twenty minutes to get up to temp, killed it, and put the charger back on.

Then I prayed for my daughter to magically become a first grader so I wouldn't have to take her to work with me (preschool is next door to my office). Until that day comes, I ride fewer than 30 days a year...

Yesterday I finally pulled off the header to drill it for the O2 sensor. Was not thinking I could weld a bung on precisely enough to fit the sensor up behind the rear master cyl, but found a bolt-on bung from AEM. [ame]http://www.amazon.com/AEM-30-2355-250-No-Weld-Sensor-Mount/dp/B003ISI6TI/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388702766&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=AEM+bolt+on+O2+bung[/ame] Nice piece of kit! And it'll allow a little 'fine tuning' of the exact position so I'll be able to get the sensor up thorough the opening without interference. Going to drive the Innovate G2 meter with their LC-1 unit that also data-logs. Nice stuff is SO great to get for yourself.:) Happy New Year.

I was surprised myself to find a bung pre-installed on the M4 system. Try placing yours right behind the bounting bolt wherd the Y comes together. I think this is the california location as well.

Replaced my front master cylinder.

Edit: and found the apparent cause of this twisting destruction.

The bolt on the left is the one I had installed. It must have been replaced with the brake lever during some long ago shop work. Previously unbeknownst to me, the the head doesnt even touch in the recess of the pivot tab. Never gave it a second thought. So while the bottom was tight the top was essentially free floating.

Put the battery on a monthly charge top up.... can't remember if I put fuel stabilizer in it in the fall though... guess I'll have to run a couple tanks of seafoam when ever I can get the damn bike on the road again... the cold is not much of an issue.. but there has been muck and ice on the roads straight through since october

Damn this is a shiddy winter... normally I get the bike out a few days almost every month... but not this year...

It's not time yet, but maybe I'll clean the K&N out this weekend too
