I nerded out my bike. I put the Hippo Hands on it.

Last time I rode to work (25 miles) it was in the high 20's. My heated vest did it's job and the only part of me that was miserable was my fingers. I was wearing Cortech Scarab winter gloves, fine down to the 40's, but not much good below that. I've got grip warmers; you can fry your palms and still have frozen fingers.

As my hands warmed up after getting to work, the pain was severe, to say the least. I got a vivid reminder of why I bought the Hippo Hands last winter. When I use them, I can wear my summer gloves and my hands stay plenty warm.

Hippo Hands look nerdy, but I figure better nerdy and comfortable than fashionable and completely miserable.
+1...

My ex-girlfriend used a pair of those (she rides a '99 SV) and she swears that they work very well. I never tried them because of the 'dork' factor. Haha. ;D I think she may have bought them from a snowmobile supply website. I don't remember, it was a long time ago...

I just finished bleeding my brakes and installing SS lines. Temperature was about 50 all day. I would have gone test ride but my bike is in pieces now. I am doing lots of work on it.

Dry & sunny today and 36F. Took the bike off the battery tender, zipped all my liners in my jacket & pants and took off for a 1 hour ride. Dry and sunny doesn't happen very often this time of year in the Pacific NW so cold or not I had to get some seat time.

rode to work in 20 degree weather. When the engine temp drops while riding you know it's cold.

tried out my new oxford heated grips

they get super hot
I have HotGrips on mine and I've loved them, but I am wanting to put a Spiering's throttle tube on it, so I'm looking into replacing my heated grips. The Oxfords look nice for the price. Do they get hot all the way around? ARe the grips the same size as stock (HotGrips are bigger because of the heating coil they mold into it)? Where'd ya get em and how much? I saw them on TT for like $60 or so. Pics?

As for what I did to my bike today...started her up and ran her with the throttle lock on to charge her up and checked on status of my new battery I just ordered. Can't wait for the new batt...this worrying about starting crap sucks!

I just pulled the tail section off the white bike. Its getting a new tail light and new rear signals.

I also put the front fairings back on Mel's bike.

I spent about an hour with the heat gun, a razor, and a few credit cards and scraped all of the stickers and reflective tape off my frame and swingarm. Most of the time was spent on the reflective tape on the swingarm.
While I certainly enjoyed the added reflectivity/visibility that it gave at night, I don't know that it was worth it after having to remove it.
I probably should have just bead-blasted it off instead!

Working on making a shorty fender, saw it done a somebody's bike here. Trying to stop the wet splatter line up and down the lady's back when it gets a bit wet. Just a bit of cutting on the stock fender. Also, took the lower fairings off to do some work, liked the look and decided to keep her nekkid.

I installed a replacement ignition and lock set that I bought off eBay since my ignition cylinder refused to turn.

I also installed one of these brake light modulators from Signal Dynamics while I had the bike all stripped apart!

Bar end mirrors and a fly screen to help with the cold.
