Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Ran my SV on the track last weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park, first time with the new bodywork. After I got home I:

- Installed the gas cap correctly after spraying fuel all over my freshly painted (with rattle-can clearcoat) tank. Let's just say the top of the tank doesn't look so good any more

- Replaced the zip ties holding my lower bodywork in place. I found a couple washers and nut in the bellypan after the 2nd session...

- Re-attached my speedo magnet after it flew off at 110 on the back straight. Fortunately it stuck to my brake caliper

Fun stuff.

swapped good (Fox) rear shock out for stock, so I can rebuild the Fox. Any random object of proper length under the frame + kickstand works pretty well to get the rear wheel off the ground.

1) Finished Gladius headlight install, including getting it aimed correctly (had to fabricate a lower bracket, and trim some material from the Gladius bracket. Otherwise it was plug and play).

2) Installed stock clip-on's from an 2nd gen SV. (Before you go off about mounting above the triple. I understand the "risks" for this location. Also, bike was lowered with GSXR rear shock, which gives me enough fork above the triple to do this. Trail is roughly stock.)

3) Because levers were now almost hitting the turn signals, I shortened the stock signals.

Next Step: Replace the tach sticker!! I have it just need to cut the damn thing out...

It's mating season in Canada, so das SV is now in pillion mode for the weekend.

- Seat cowl
- Grab bar filler
- Some of the bugs off the front lights, fender, forks and radiator
+ Pillion seat
+ Grab bar
+ Pillion lid
+ Couple rings of preload, and an extra couple lbs of tire pressure
+ Swim trunks and a pack of gum in the tank bag

Removed airbox snorkel, added tank risers from svracingparts.com, lowered clipons 10mm, mounted steering damper from a 07 Gixxer 600, and mounted new windscreen so I can film through it. Yeah, that's about enough for 1 day!

I'm interested to see how those changes feel at the next track day next Saturday.

Removed head covers, heads, cylinders, pistons, clutch stuff, shift mechanisms, oil pump, both flywheel cover and right side cover, ummm... And some other stuff. I'm apprehensive about putting back together. But still need to split cases and inspect tranny parts.

Installed new stainless clutch line and clutch master. Flushed and bled all lines. Washed with the body work off to get the hidden grime off. Took apart rear sets and lubed. Tweaked the TPS. Installed new chain/sprockets- I've done all this work on the bike over the years and oddly have never done the chain myself. I always had it done when I needed tires.

Hopped on the SV and spent near as makes no difference 3.5 hours in the saddle, about a 4 hour trip. Learned a lot, got a lot of experience (this was my longest single trip on the bike by a factor of 4). Rode up from home to the North GA Mountains to ride up Blood Mountain. I've done that run in a few cars before (modded Protege5, Miata, S2k), but never on 2 wheels. I'll tell you, riding that long when you're not used to it will wear your ass out. That said? Glorious. Got up there about 45 min before sun-set, and basically had the mountain to myself. Didn't do anything wild or crazy, but just a nice brisk pace (you don't even need to break the speed limit to have fun up there) on a super fun mountain road. Glorious, and worth the trip.

But damn I'm glad to be home

I tried to find a place to put tire patching tools. The plug tools fit under the back seat, but the tiny compressor has to go in the tank bag and takes up quite a bit of room. Since I got a nail in my back tire, I've been a little obsessed about having all the stuff to fix a flat on the road. There are areas where I ride where there is no cell service and almost no traffic on the road. You could sit on the side of the road forever waiting for help.

Did you assemble your own kit or get a pre-built one? I may be making a long distance trip at the end of August and am wondering what kind of repair/medical kit I should aquire.

Today I dinked around with my lower fairings on the 650. Turns out I had a bit of a fitment issue with the Motosliders bracket so the one fairing sticks out a little further and the mount that goes on the side of the radiator doesn't push the fairing out enough so my fork shield was kissing in the inside of the fairing. A couple washers and a slight turn of the fork shield and all was good.
