It looks like you used "plumbers' tape to mount your plate. If you are going to do it like that, I would suggest you get some more substantial L brackets from the hardware store.

Also, I can very easily see your plate getting radically realigned by your rear tire at some point. Here is a picture of the angle mine was on.

Even so, coming out of a gas station, with the wife on the back I hit a pretty significant dip, and the next time I got off the bike, I noticed the plate had contacted the tire and been bent up underneath.

This may not pass some people's litmus test for interesting or significant, but today I did what I think is the most important "mod" I've done since I signed the paperwork to pick it up -- I paid it off. Now it's mine, ALL MINE muhahahahah. Wonder how long before I start looking at something else...

Anyway, I ordered some resistors for the 1 watt and 3 watt LEDs that will be going in the new under-tail in place of the crappy LEDs that come in all aftermarket lights. They're gonna be crazy bright! Then I mocked up the new under-tail to see where I might need to do some trim work.. all while I think about replacing the entire tail anyway. ::)
 
I dunno, I jumped my bike over a rather large speed hump (kind of like the ones in mexico) by accident at night once (it had no markings on it like most do) and I only slightly put a bit of an indent in the bottom of my plate... but it did not do much more than scuff it and put a bit of a minor dent in the plate.. You can't even see it really

and I am 200lbs+ too...

Removed the scissor jack from between the swingarm's legs and struggled yet again to get the GSXR wheel in. The experiment was a failure. Annoying!



It's people like DarkMatter that make me seem kinda internet mature. ;)
 
Straightened the fairing stay. Butane torch + crow bar + steel pole = straightened back out.

Test fit new bodywork. Rockwall bodywork looks good, flexes well and comes "prepped." Will do a write up since it's a newer ebay bodywork company.

Removed the scissor jack from between the swingarm's legs and struggled yet again to get the GSXR wheel in. The experiment was a failure. Annoying!
IIRC metal and alloys are technically categorized as plastics, meaning they are more elastic than rigid (like a crystalline). You can bend it to a point and it will go right back to where it was, but if you go beyond that point...:angry4:

Zokambaa, I really like the look of your M4. I'm getting a little bored/annoyed with the sound level of my Viper Stubby. Maybe a good Christmas self-present.
 
Got my first gen rotor and stator muahahah. now the tedious process of making two harnesses from two different generations magically become one. and of course put my engine back together and try to figure out some kind of workable jetting for a Carbed 2nd Gen. i wonder if my gauges are gonna work ok, they do only have two ecu connections, bah who needs a tach really, still havent had a speedo since i did the gsxr fork swap a year ago. Come to think of that tho i have had a lot of speeding tickets lately?!?!?!?!

Sweet....keep us posted. I'm thinking more and more about using my Twin Shack bodywork on my street bike and getting a set of inexpensive skins for the track bike. The Twin Shack front is HOT, but expensive.

No. Actually, I enjoy this thread. It's the whole "blah blah blah, this thread is for massive motor rebuilds, custom welded frame add-ons, spaceship conversions" only attitude that brings out my inner go-f|?ck-yourselfism. Where's the line drawn. Is a chain clean and lube, or just a wash, compound, wax good enough? Somewhere in here are pics of the front fender I painted up and mounted. I think that caught an attitude too. So what's the deal? I understand the build forum wasn't around when this thread started. But now that it's there, shouldn't even minor "updates" suffice as "what I did today" material?

No fancy builds required. Just answer the question "what did you do to your SV today?" That's all; that's been my point and that of a few others this whole time. Riding 10 miles to the grocery store shouldn't count... not even a big 500 mile ride through the mountains. As I've said before, we could just start a "ride report" thread.

This isn't splitting hairs.
 
That's pretty fair. I'm just making a simple point. Some folks take pride in a thorough detailing job. But that post may get a "why is this in here" reply. Why, is all I want to know.
