Rode for about an hour with my dad, first ride with him since I got the bike and then came back to the house to find my brother in law working on his bike (he keeps it in my garage with mine). We rode around my neighborhood a few times to see how he felt on the road after getting started in a parking lot yesterday.

He looked really good and felt comfortable so we went on a loop of about 5-10 miles where there is minimal car traffic. He says he's having a blast and is feeling great on the bike so we ride a bit more before dusk starts to set in and he has to park it for the night.

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be ugly so I'll get around to installing the TRE and cleaning/lubing the chain.

Changed out the swing arm spools to better match my new rear stand. Lubed the chain.

The new T-Rex stands are working out great; got a rear stand and a front triple tree stand. I got them in gold galvanized with the V style handle. Both stands are well made and very heavy duty. Here's a link to the stands.

I had a rear stand, but the T-Rex is more stable and better overall quality. The triple tree stand will make tire changes and fork work much quicker. I've got two friends that have SV's and when they need to change tires, I'm sure they'll be coming over.

I love my T-Rex stands. That front stand was worth it's weight in gold today when I resprung my forks.

I put on my new snakeskin Tech Spec tank pads today, and thanks to Travis and the wonderful crew at Tech Spec, I also stuck on my new custom-designed, one-off frame protectors.

Here you can see the damage my Aerostich has done to the finish on the frame

All better now, in a sweeping the dust under a rug sort of way

Gratuitous photo-whoring of the overall look

They really aren't that gray, just the flash. Here's hoping the extra-strength adhesive I specified for them holds around that tricky little bend in the frame.

Thanks, Travis.

got the bike out and installed the shorty Micron can, washed er' up a bit and cleaned and lubed the chain up good. Took it for a quick spin around the block before I tear off the forks to be redone this week and wheels for new tires this week. Renthal bars on the way and custom FE to go on shortly. Oh yea I still need to get tags, and insurance before Im actually legal for the road.

I installed the DL650 handguards on my '03 naked. I used my Throttlemeister barends. Had to source a couple of 85MM M-8 bolts and had to drill out the supplied spacers to accomodate those 8mm through bolts. Only other thing I had to do was to move the R/H perch inward about 1/2". Installation was relatively straight forward. I bought the bike without the OE barends (it came with a couple of Napoleon barend mirrors) so I'm not sure if the OE barend through bolts will be long enough. If not, I would think that threading down and shortening the supplied through bolts would work out.
I also installed the Pyramid Plastics front fender extenda.....epoxied it on because I'm not a fan of sheet metal screws sticking down toward the tire.

yeah. its got a 07 gsxr shock on it that is way too short. it could also be the angle of the driveway.

good enough to see how its running after the build.. did about 60 miles yesterday and today, the only problem i had was running out of gas.

Well, I didn't DO anything to my bike today, but I did order my threaded adjustable lowering links. The kind that you can just use a wrench and adjust them without taking them off. I also ordered some Brocks lowering straps for the front end. I will only use those when I take it to the track though. These allow me to do up to a 4" drop from factory.

I helped another guy with his SV. It's his first motorcycle and he doesn't have a clue (yet). Or any tools (yet).

I put spools on the bike and showed him how to use a rear stand. I showed him how to adjust the chain, lube it and get the wheel straight in the swing arm. Adjusted the throttle and clutch free play. Lubed the pivot points. Showed him how to prop up the tank and get to the air cleaner. Cleaned corrosion off of the battery terminals and put on some battery spray to keep it from happening again. I rotated the levers down a bit to allow better hand positioning. I had him check his tires; they were 27 front and 32 rear... adjusted air pressure.

This guy weighs 260 and still has stock suspension....

I hope he learned something from all of this.

What about the brakes? Just the rear and engine braking?

And whats up with the chain? Like three masterlinks added or? Im talking about the black links.
no its just one clip type masterlink.. it looks like dirt or something in the picture.. I really need the chain to stretch so i can put a 15 tooth front sprocket on, maybe ill add another master. No front brakes right now, dont REALLY need them though, the back brake works real good and i havent been riding hard.

Besides the obvious lack of front calipers and a tail and some other stuff
somethings you cant see in the picture.... the lights that dont work, the nut that holds on the countershaft sprocket is only finger tight, the flywheel bolt isnt properly torq'd, and the little oil leak coming from the countershaft sprocket or the clutch pushrod seal.
