GP shift FTW!!
I like it when I'm in a left hand turn and I need to shift to a higher gear. Also, it's a lot easier IMO to just stomp on the shifter, even when going in a straight line... Besides, my size 14's dont like being shoved beneath the shifter and my toes used to scrape the ground quite often! Also, I use engine breaking a lot, so I generally only downshift while the bike is completely upright (not the case with upshifting).

It did take me a few hundred miles to get used to it, but IMO it was WELL worth the time. BTW, It confuses me to ride a "normal" bike now. Haha.
If it works for you, great. It didn't for me. After even just a short trial, I determined like the standard pattern better. BUT, I also don't have to worry about getting clown's feet under my shifter. (sorry ;D)

I installed DL650 (V-Strom) hand guards. Not hard, but it took me a while to figure out that the bar end bolts in the kit wouldn't possibly work with the SV bar end setup. I just removed the thick washer from the SV bar end expander and reassembled with the stock SV expander bolts.

The hand guards really help on the freezing or near freezing rides I do going to work. They are totally un-noticeable when riding. I'm not too hot on the way they look, but they function great and allow me to use slimmer warm weather gloves.

Got a pair of ASV C5's installed. The bike shop where I bought them had an old supply of clutch levers, so I went back to the shop and Bob from ASV was there and actually swapped my lever for me! Yes ASV levers are expensive, but their people are outstanding and their warranty is tops. Dead sexy levers, too!

I did the throttle body sync and mounted a NEP cruise control.
Then mounted the Beull foot pegs. The guys at the local harley shop
was bashing one of their buddies for buying an old ninja LOL.

Bot they dropped their jaw when I fired up the SV.
The Yosh pipe surprised them;D

nice levers... but more epensive than cng or even Pazzo.. I think I'll skip that... $250 for freaking levers? that is crazy.. $125 each??? do they give you a blow job when you order them too? I mean they should at that price

Which NEP cruise did you get?

I looked at them before but wasn't sure which to get... I don't want one like the universal vista cruise with the stupid bar that goes across the throttle housing...

I just wanted the minimal lever that locks down like the old version did on my old bike

I was happy with the CAT O-Ring but my new SV has too much gap between the bar end and the throttle grip so it won't work like it did on my 1st gen.

At least I can use them on my Marauder.

So, I am looking for an inexpensive throttle lock that isn't a$$ ugly like the vista cruise universal thing.... nor is stupid expensive like the throttlemeister...

Zokambaa,

I just bought the only one they had in stock, it was the cc-2 for Yamaha.
I had to enlarge the area that clamps the grip from 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" and mounted a pin for the NEP to anchor to.

The bike came with the Vista and I hated it. Took up too much space on the grip and flexed more.

If you loosen the mounting screws for your throttle tube, you should be able to slide it out so the "o" ring will work,

I also have the S throttle mounted on N bars, so it made the anchor pin
necessary. (your results may be different)
Mark.

Aah... the cc-4 is apparently for the suzukis but I dunno if it will work on these bikes or not... but I am thinking of getting one...

The grip and tube are where the problem is with mine... both before and after the R6 mod... the grips are about 1/8th of an inch too far back so the gap it not bad, but it causes slippage when I try to use the O-Ring and it won't stay engaged like on my 99.

I had the Vista on my old 99 Yamaha Maxim and it worked well enough for me.. well untill after I had teh bike for ages and the return springs weren't as tight... but it still worked well when I turned it down a bit...

I just want something so I can clamp it, keep my left hand on the bar and shake out the right hand on a long ride... I can do it on the left and there is no issue riding very long distances, but gripping the bar and not getting the chance to shake it out does tend to make it a bit stiff toward the end of the day... and I am not a death gripper either

Perhaps I'll just get the cc4 and mod it if I need to... I've seen some people even do that with a small bit of epoxy like jb weld and a zip tie or screw... or even mount it upside down..

I guess I have all winter now to come up with something... I doubt I'll be able to get any day rides in now that my riding is limited to no ice or snow on the road days and riding all day at sub zero temps is not much fun... a few hours here and there are ok... but I'm not much for hypothermia

fitted my gsxr k3 shock to my k3 and what a difforence also striped the paint off the wheals ready for polishing

started working on the 1st gen from its running issues.

ran on 1 cylinder,

after 5 hours of carb cleaning and adjusting and syncing...

it was the spark plug wire...one of them on the coil was disconnected. Stupid.

Later.

chopped my OEM turn signals, added smoked flushmounts and mirrors with integrated turn signals. Then swapped all my amber LEDs for white ones !

alot of fun and well worth the effort. tomorrow a good wash !

This weekend, I met three new people from SVR. I took my first trip down a road with some respectable twisties. I noticed that my horn wasn't working; I had forgotten to hook it up after a friend showed me how to adjust my valves last weekend.

Prior to this event, my bike had been leaking oil due to a bad CCT gasket. I replaced the gasket; degreased and repainted my exhaust; degreased my rear brake, swingarm, and wheel; installed frame sliders; and cleaned the chain.

What size bulb is that for the gauge?

i'm afraid it's not a bulb at all, rather 8 tiny LEDs on the circuit board in the gauge cluster that have to be soldered out and new ones put in. i got them from here. Don't do it if you're not comfortable with soldering !
