Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

1) Black racing stripes down middle of my gas tank w/3M protective vinyl film over them, carried through to the tail section.

2) CF trim at key, triple tree, and gas fill.

3) Tank bra

4) ... and 1,000 miles on my new Dunlop Q2's. I'm rather dissapointed at how quickly they're wearing. New, my rear tread depth measured at 6.1cm, already my tread depth is down to 3.9cm's. However, they gave me the confidence to ride "too fast" for the wet conditions yesterday morning (according to my friend I unwittingly passed), and they are VERY neutral feeling while giving me all the grip my skill level needed yesterday while flying through the local canyon twisties & switchbacks.

i recovered my seat (because spencer wouldn't do it for me).

First I carved down the OEM seat so it was a more comfortable shape (photo shown is a rough version before I whipped out my dremel and made it smooth). I put under it a stiff liner, and on top of it I put down some dense foam. I then covered it with a 4 way stretch vinyl. This was the first time I've done anything like it, and it came out pretty nicely

Another exciting oil change. I got some Mobil Delvac 1300 for $6.50/gallon about 9 months ago. I decided I had to use it; I have been using Rotella Synthetic T6, and I really think it's the ultimate, but can't let the Delvac just sit on the shelf....

I put a cobalt samarium magnet inside the filter. I did that on the previous filter, too and used it for 6500 miles. (I haven't pulled it out to see what's stuck to it; I'll post when I do.) I was happy to see that the magnet I put in last time was still exactly where I put it and hadn't deteriorated or anything.

I've read that like 70% of engine wear is from iron/steel particles that are too small for the filter to catch; they just keep recirculating through the motor. A killer strong magnet like a samarium cobalt will for sure get 'em. They are unaffected by temperatures up to 572*F.

Oh yea, I got to use a new Blitz funnel I got at Kmart and a 1000ml polyethylene beaker to measure oil in. No guessing on when the right amount of oil is in; measure and dump it in. Sweet!

Yes, it's got a magnet. It's small and relatively weak.

I checked out the used filter that has the magnet on the inside this evening. I was very surprised to see a light deposit of metal on the top of the magnet. Bear in mind that this metal was caught from filtered oil.

When I changed the oil I made sure to check the drain plug magnet; it had a very small amount of fine metal, nothing compared to what the magnet inside the filter caught. It was just enough to leave a dark smear on a paper towel.

The information I read about steel particles too small to be caught by the filter is true. If they really do cause the majority of wear in an engine, putting a magnet in the filter probably does some good in cutting wear.

I'll post a pic or two as soon as I can get some good shots.

Suburban Machinery type-2 bars, R6 throttle tube (which, unfortunately involved a full adjustment of throttle cables on the throttle body-end. No R6 tube plug and play on mine. *sigh*), and TPS adjustment. I'd tried to adjust the TPS before but it moved a lot when I tightened the bolts back up, and I ran out of time, so I let it be. TPS Round 2 was much more successful

cleaned up the rear seat cowl. while i had the seat off i decided to clean up some of the wires. rerouted them, wrapped them in conduit. it really cleaned it up. also i had 2 loaded tool kits in there too which i could occasionally hear bouncing around so i poured them out and figured out what i would really actually use and narrowed it down to 1 bag. good enough i guess.
