Changed the oil, checked the chain, and adjusted the TPS. Standby for rant...

...Okay. All you effers who say how easy adjusting the TPS is can suk mah ballz :nana: Sure, it isn't intellectually challenging, but it sure as hell isn't easy. The problems I had finding the connector to activate the diagnostic code display were my own doing. When I installed the FE, I bundled all those wires up, stuffed them deep, and zip-tied them to the frame. Once that was sorted, the real aggravation started.

Adjusting the TPS wasn't the issue. It was KEEPING the stupid thing adjusted while tightening it back down. I must have through at least 30 cycles of loosen, adjust, snug, check, tighten, F*CK! before I finally got it right. There must be some sort of technique or tool that I don't know about. Either that, or you effers all have three hands and Terminator like strength in your extremely long, skinny digits. /rant

Once done, it seems to be an improvement. I took it for a little test ride, and it certainly seems livelier, but that could have been because I took the ride a la squid with just helmet, gloves, and boots with my "workin' on the bike coveralls". With no jacket, pants or ear plugs, my perception could have been skewed. I will have to reserve judgment for a more in depth evaluation.

Mine was not too far out of wack so I never noticed a huge difference either...

then again I said to fu*&!%@ hell with it after I got it to sit at about 1800... that was about as good as I could get the thing as it always jumped off when I tried tightening it down...

so I tried setting it lower, hoping it would edge up when I tightened it.. but nope it went the other way...

in the end 1800 is good enough for me... some day maybe I'll play with it aain but not any time soon.... perhaps I'll mess with my power commander and tweak it to compensate...

Yesterday: paid $30 to have the suspension tuned finally and then ripped it through ~50 laps of MSR (Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Raceway) for my second track day. Had a great time and it didn't let me down, nor did it fail to surprise the crap out of literally every liter bike and 600SS in Level 2. Yeehaw! I've actually got a little follow-up log I'm writing for my track day thread.

A few days ago I noticed that my rear brake fluid was kinda brown, so I flushed both front and rear with new fluid. Not hard, but tedious. It's gotten very hot in my part of the PNW, so sweat was the order of the day.

After the brakes, I checked the chain slack and cleaned it to perfection. A nasty job for sure. Lubed it up and took a test ride.

The brakes are firm and solid. The chain is happy to be rid of all the grunge.

The SV is ready for the commute to work tomorrow on twisty roads.

Edited to add: I also adjusted the rebound damping on the ZX14 shock. It's getting better all the time. Right now it at: 16mm of threads showing (preload), 2 turns from full clockwise on the rebound, 2-1/2 turns from full clockwise on the compression.

I rode it about 40 miles today but yeterday morning I put on the silver metallic "SUZUKI" fairing stickers. They turned out pretty good and the guy I bought them from on ebay gave me a full refund for letting him post pics of my bike on hisebay page. Free stuff is always good.

Removed gear shifter + rearset. Stripped that @#!$! bolt on the backside. Waiting on delivery of one of those bolt/screw extractor kits.

Even contemplated putting my (way turned down) oxy-fuel torch to the sucker to break the blue loctite.

*sigh*

Installed a 2002 GSX-R1000 shock on the 2003 copper SVS. Trimming the battery box is way freakin' easy with a rotozip tool. Then it wouldn't start. Thank God I remembered that stupid tipover sensor. I really want that gone.

Put on a set of race takeoffs. It's a little weird riding on the street with a front slick, but it's not like I'm gonna hit water in SoCal in August.

Almost done with her. I want to swap rearsets with the 2007 SVS, as the later ones are lower and further back, and the 2003 is the one I'm commuting on. And the solo seat cowl. That's a necessity.

Installed a throttle tube from an '03 R6. Went from 90deg throttle range to 72deg. Wow.
Full throttle range without having to shift my grip. They should come this way from the factory.

Rode it up to Shaver Lake and back a few times (vacation weekend with one work day in the middle...ugh!). Riding in the mountains in the dark is only fun with your high beams on...lol. Just got my spare seat in the mail from Ebay, so I'll be working on reshaping/padding that soon.

Went to that photo shoot thing. On the way drove through a water main brake and got a vice spray of mud. It was interesting to say the least. The 40 or so photographers were classy. All in all I rode maybe 20 miles and got a coffee on the way home. Pathetic!
