I'm doing something unprecedented, and properly polishing and waxing it (starting with wet and dry on the scratches and swirls, then Farecla G3 and G10 to buff that back up and to remove the fading, then a very fine aerosol polishing compound, then Meguiar Crystal 3 step- paint cleaner, polish and wax. I'm going to have arm muscles like Arnie by the end of this ;D And from teh looks of it, it'll be the last time too, I'm running out of clear coat
Dude... yer in England... it's just gonna rain anyway. ;D

Went on my Sunday ride, saw an old Norton, a few original Mini Coopers on PCH, the leos were out, saw a few women on cruisers and one on a sportbike. Now I'm home watching Superbike races...

took off the shovel today...sooooo much better...just gota fill in the gap from where the fender was...i know theres a template on here somewhere...cant believe how easy it was tho

Why are you messing with the brakes w/ only 7300 miles on it, or am I missing something?

a.s.

Changed the oil and filter in my '01 SV650 with 7300mi. Stuff that came out was ugly. I didn't have the right oil filter wrench so I put a stainless hose clamp around the filter and took it off with the filter wrench from my car. I'm afraid the oil has never been changed (!). Changed the rear brake pads. Working up the nerve to do the front ones. Don't have the special Suzuki silicone grease.
Question: Does anyone know why you can't add coolant to the radiator by removing the radiator cap instead of raising the gas tank to add it to the overflow tank? It would be nice to add coolant without taking the seat off.

TPS adjustment and plenty of riding. Started out just a spin around town to test out 1st & 2nd gear... somehow ended up on the highway  took a "wrong turn", got lost and eventually found my way back home ;D

I rode it. Then I got caught in the rain. looks like I'm gonna have to spend another hour washin/waxing it tomorrow, so I'll chime in then.

Spanked it like a bad dog in the North central KY twisties......(But on Saturday: painted the rear wheel Black, installed my Star rotors wavy cut brake rotor.)

Rode her around for a little while.....until an old coot pulled out in front of me-almost killed us both, so I went home.

Rode to work and back, and filled it up on the way home when the fuel light started winking at me. :fiddy:

61.5 MPG HOORAY!!! :)

Did some throttle cable stretching on some good roads with some good-feeling weather.
Some old coots pulled out in front of me, too, but I was able to out-coot them. :D

2001 SV650 naked with 7300 miles.
Called insurance person to get insurance on the bike so I can register it next Thursday.
Exploded the bike for maintainance (side covers off, rear seat off, main seat off, gas tank raised).
Figured out how to get the side cover plastic button fasteners off (push in center to release, remove, push center so it sticks out, reinstall, push center to flush position to lock).
Removed air filter, blew it out with compressed air and re-installed.
Added antifreeze to proper level.
Gap spark plugs to 0.028".
Put slight amount of moly grease on threads.
Replaced spark plugs. [Front plug is a pain and you can't unplug the radiator thermal switch since there is no plug where the manual says (?).]
Number of parts left over after re-assembly: ZERO!
Now on to the dreaded chain lube issue!!!!!
