Sanded and primed headlamp fairings and front fender, and sanded the rash out of the tail section.

Last night I put on my new Texas plate and today I rode it to work.

Loaded it up for the vacation that starts 6am in the morning and ends somewhere around 4000 miles later. ;D

Changed the oil and filter in my '01 SV650 with 7300mi. Stuff that came out was ugly. I didn't have the right oil filter wrench so I put a stainless hose clamp around the filter and took it off with the filter wrench from my car. I'm afraid the oil has never been changed (!). Changed the rear brake pads. Working up the nerve to do the front ones. Don't have the special Suzuki silicone grease.
Question: Does anyone know why you can't add coolant to the radiator by removing the radiator cap instead of raising the gas tank to add it to the overflow tank? It would be nice to add coolant without taking the seat off.

bought the bike a couple weeks ago from a friend. it was his wife's bike. she laid it down once on the left side leaving some scarring on the fairing and rear side covers.

so I found a cool site (cyclegraphics.com) that sells vinyl decals. They are nice because they go on with heat activated adhesive.....and come off cleanly the same way.

Locations cover up about 90% of the scarring damage done, leaving the bike looking near new. may not be everyone's "cup of tea" but in my case they served a dual-purpose.

whatcha think..........

rode her about 350 miles. started off in annapolis into some WV and Va for Ducati demo in Winchester VA. some crazy roads out there folks. saw a couple SV650's and a SV650s at the demo.

Had her 600 mile service done...I'm so excited about not having to watch my rmp's anymore and can just ride!

I'm doing something unprecedented, and properly polishing and waxing it (starting with wet and dry on the scratches and swirls, then Farecla G3 and G10 to buff that back up and to remove the fading, then a very fine aerosol polishing compound, then Meguiar Crystal 3 step- paint cleaner, polish and wax. I'm going to have arm muscles like Arnie by the end of this ;D And from teh looks of it, it'll be the last time too, I'm running out of clear coat

woke up, finished out my chopped exhaust, rode our best twisty rode and grinned ear to ear
