Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Comtemplated changing my front sprocket to a 14 tooth from the stock 15... but then I had a couple shots of jack and a muscle relaxant and said... fuggit... maybe the weekend... it's probably not wise to work on the sprocket in my current state..

and now on a completely unrelated topic.... why why why has no one in America killed Kate gosselin yet D A M N it was bad enough that media wh0re was flogged for years on crap TV... but just when you thought it was gone it came back... arrrgh... someone please... do it... BULLET TIME!!!

Hell do her husband/exhusband.. or whatever that douchebag is... too... god d a m n america sure likes $h!t tv....

yesterday, I got to ride it in 8-9" deep water. Came home from work and found the end of my street was flooded as well as all the way across the main drag it intersected. All the cars were stopping and making u-turns, and I just got a big smile on my face and hit the gas! Lifted my feet as high as I could behind me and layed down on my tank...water was splashing higher than me and I got soaked up to my waist. It was a blast! hehehe.

Good thing you have a 2nd gen... if you had a 1st gen you would be riding on 1 cylinder right now! :nana:

Fiiiiiinally got it running! checked the Cam timing (for the fourth time) and the rear cylinder was 90-degrees off, and the funny/ironic part is that the cam was marked 100% correctly and I checked it three times before! I rode it last night for the first time since 2008!! Wheee!! The thing does pull like a "raped ape" and pulls HARD to 9k easily!! Still has a lotta tweaking before it's completely done (need to adjust the throttle, rejet it, check the exhaust, new tires, fix speedo paint/powdercoat some parts, try to get rid of the squat under acceleration, etc etc etc...), but I'm a very, VERY happy biker and it's got me excited to get it all finished! ;D

Funny thing is, it's been "naked" (without the 1/4 fairing) for so long, the naked look has totally grown on me... I maybe doing a S-to-SF conversion sometime soon too! hahaha

More like 5-10hp if you re-mapped or re-jetted it at the same time.. and have a full system VS a slip on.. slip ons are usually only 2-4 hp gains over stock.. stickers.. well who knows how much they provide... they seem to add 100hp to those honda civics in conjunction with fart pipe or so the driver's ego seems to indicate..

I do like my late model SV-1000 snorkle in my SV650s though... it is shorter than the earlier SV1000 snorkels and works well with my full m4 and power commander III

I may go to a K&N or BMC air filer but since the SV1000 use the same filter I don't think it will make much difference other than costing less when I clean it rather than fork out 60+ bucks for a new stock one when it comes time... for the next 1-2 years I should be good with the stocker though...

Opened up the snorkel on the air box. I would estimate around a 15 horsepower gain. Plus the 30 horses from my devil slip on and let's not forget about that SVR sticker on the frame.

Where's a 'busa?

I have this same setup (although my PCIII is unplugged right now). I haven't figured out what to do with my stock snorkel though. I was debating on taking it off today on my lunch break.

My bike was running rich w/ the PCIII connected, so maybe a little more air will help her out..

I found the bike more responsive with a 2006+ Sv1000 snorkle in the airbox rather than none at all... and both no snorkel or the 1000 snorkel in the SV650 is waaaaaaay better than the stock choked intake... especially if you go to an aftermarket exhaust and a power commander...

I think the best thing any 2nd gen owner can do is pull that d a m n intake off the 650 air box... and get a 1000k for it... or just leave it off

my plate is a little reflective.. but not even close to the tape... or a reflector..

I did the same thing.. although mine is about only 1/2 an inch and runs the length of my plate along the bottom...

some assfugger stole my last plate with the reflective buttons on it so... I'm hoping this will appease the cops or at least give me a warning if they crap on me for not having a rear reflector... but when I look at it... I think the tape works better than the bolt on reflector things anyway...

I use the same stuff on my swing arm and it reflects rather well...

on the rest of the bike I use the black reflective tape... mirrors, bar ends, sub frame on the back and a few other places it doesn't show up easily during the day, but catches the light in the night...

You can't see my plate in the pic below, but you can see the others.. it works not too badly.. and the strip along the bottom of my plate works too.. on my marauder I used bigger blocks on the corner sides but it is a bit too obvious during the day... it doesn't obscure the plate but I think the cops might p!ss on me for it..

You can see some of spots I used the stuff on my SV here they are all a black in the daylight and invisible (except the red one) so I don't mind putting them in several spots on the bike..

Probably will help when I am parked but won't probably do much when I am on the bike...

everyone knows even a day glow jacket with neon lights flashing on a bike painted neon green with flashing emergency lights would still be invisible to the moron cager texting while applying their makeup and takling on their other cellphone at the same time they are reading the newspaper and eating breakfast while navigating rush-hour traffic in their SUV.... (yeah I see these fuggers daily)

Took a 2 inch long piece of my red reflective rim tape, and applied it on the back of my license plate light.

There was nothing there to reflect light on the back, and I don't want some drunk f*ck ramming my bike from behind.

From what I can tell from having installed mine last week, it's more of an "evalation" than a revelation. I had already done the TPS adjustment, so throttle response was already vastly improved. With the aTRE, it probably went from everyday stick butter to sweet creamery whipped butter.

put on a fun, fast 60 miles with 2 buddies. rode one 2007 r1 through some twisties and had a hoot with how well it handles and plants it self in a corner and leaned over. rode the other guys 02 SV with full yosh system, the fattest jet kit dynojet makes, and a stock 03 front end with probably .95 springs. amazing how comfy a 1g seat is compared to a 2g.

the guy with the 02 sv noticed my clutch was kind of hanging up and acting real stiff. pulled the rubber boot sleeve off and the inner screw was sheered off. went back to his garage and he had an extra laying around so fixed it right up.

Somewhere there is a writeup on the SV650 snorkel vs no snorkel vs sv1000 snorkel...

Lift the tank, take the top off the airbox and carefully wiggle the rubber snorkel out of the cover... if it is warm (take it inside and let it warm up nicely) and it will come out.. probably even easier if you were to run it under the warm tap I didn't need to but some people had a bit of difficulty getting it out.... probably this is on the older SVs as they have had time for the rubber to age a bit more and stiffen up.

The link below talks about it a bit

I wouldn't cut up the airbox unless you are racing it... some who have done that found it ran weird afterward.... I guess you could get a spare airbox top and screw with it..

the late model SV1000 snorkle worked great for me... I think the 2005 and earlier sv1000 snorkels are longer so I went with the shorter one out of a 2006 or 2007 sv1000.
