Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Received an installed Delkelvic stubby. Nice little pipe. Sounds good.. was cheap an weighs like 4.5lbs. **** goo for 150$ especially since I just plan on ruining it ;)

Installed Cheweys pair system removal kit. Y doesn't it come with a block off for the little solenoid looking thing ? (it's under the air filter - you can get air in there.)

Mocked up a block off plate for the pair system.

-Got my Dunlop roadsmart tire put on.

-New sprockets by driven (44R/15F... stock "s" gearing)

-520 XSO chain.

My other chain had the red dust of death, the chain was stretched like a mother. It would go from 1/2 inch of freeplay to 5 inches in some spots! My bike was getting very loud, it vibrated much, and the pulsing in the first two gears was horrible. It was literally lurching badly. The sprockets were fine but I replaced them anyway.

It rides like a dream! I am glad I replaced bad components and I feel much safer as a result.

-The other tire.. a continental road attack, lasted 8568 miles. It had just gotten worn down to the replacement marker, though it could have gone much more if I decided to (but it would be illegal.) I had only gone to palomar mountain twice on that tire so approximately 8500 miles of straight freeway commuting. The tread on the sides was barely touched. :(

-My original chain lasted 13818 miles.

Took it for a good ride out to Barber Motorsports Park and AL-25 (nice set of curves). In the process I scarred up my right boot toe slider and almost the whole right side of the bike (note to self, slow into unfamiliar hairpins ;) )

I've been reading about chain oilers lately. It's not unusual for people to get 40+K miles out of a chain with an automatic oiler. So, until I can make my mind up which one to get, I've been experimenting with a different (for me) way of lubing the chain.

I'm using 80/90wt gear oil and applying it with a toothbrush. I don't use a lot. After I've brushed all sides of the chain, I wipe it with a paper towel. The chain looks cleaner than when I used spray lube and it hasn't been any more messy than with spray lube, either.

I think that the thick and sticky spray chain lubes don't do as good of a job in keeping the o-rings wet as the gear oil. Time will tell how it works. I'm lubing the chain every 150 to 200 miles and it stays looking wet, which would seem to indicate that it's well lubed.

Saving the cost of a chain and sprocket set every year or two is a good thing. Money is about to get very, very tight for people as the economy slowly crumbles, so getting the most out of chains and tires is really important.

Adjusted my TPS and my chain - and went for a 100-mile ride in the AWESOME sunny 70* weather. What a blast! That bike is hands down the best purchase I've made in my 45 years. After six years and over 20K miles, it still puts a big grin on my face EVERY time I get on it. I'm lovin' the new exhaust note from the Delkevic shorty.

My TPS was WAY out of adjustment - kicked in at 4000 RPMs instead of the 1450 it's supposed to. The adjustment made the bike significantly smoother at lower speeds/RPMs.

I got 20K+ miles out of the original chain using Maxima Chain Wax and occasional kerosene cleanings - so I'm sticking with that.

Changed coolant and thermostat, washed, waxed, cleaned and lubed chain, installed EvoTech fork sliders.

It took a few seconds to write that, but all day to do. First time doing a coolant flush, but figured out how to do it without taking the fairing off on the S. Lots of idling and pushing the bike side to side to bleed the system etc... Too bad it still gets below freezing this time of year around here. Would have just gone with water and water wetter in preparation for track school if I could have.

Tomorrow, I ride!

Of course the metal wears too, but the metal itself actually does stretch. Go take a molecular chemistry class and you'll understand.. factory worker jobs don't count as chemistry experience.
Here's a simple example: If you've ever bent a spoon or fork, you've seen stretched metal. It HAS to stretch, the less it stretches molecularly, the more brittle it is, and then it shatters. Has anyone seen their chain shatter? I think not. Because it stretches. (and yes, it wears too)
