I went shopping for my SV.

I got her a new compressor, a Harbor Freight tire changer, a Mojolever and a set of Mojoblocks. Gotta get the new Pilot Power 2CT put on the back in the next week to 10 days, the PP on there now is going away fast.

Changed the oil and cleaned and lubed the chain.

I lurked on DCSportbikes a little yesterday and saw your thread. Looks (what I understand) to be typically fabulous Nudist work. More pics, please.

rode it.

i'm at 120 miles on the tank right now and the fuel light hasn't gone on yet. gonna ride her easy to see how far i can make it.

You might want to pick up one of those MTC Camp fuel bottles (usually 1 liter) and fill it with gas and carry it with you... there is a chance that your fuel level sender failed and is not reading the low level of gas :p

bypassed the clutch switch today, and now I am in the middle of bypassing the ignition (key) switch. It's a racer, and it will never go to the street. Sure hope my crappy soldering job will hold up.:p

about as safe as you wrapping your legs around 4.5 gallons of gasoline.
heh...point taken.

I've heard of long distance and dual sport guys carrying an extra bit of fuel. I guess it's perfectly safe as long as the bottle is constructed strongly enough. and I guess it would be safer to strap the fuel cell to the bike, rather than in a backpack on the rider or something like that.

I've never seen one IRL...and I'm picturing one of those cheapo walmart plastic gas containers sloshing around on my back, and exploding into a fireball if I wreck :nuke:

Is this your first full tank of gas? My fuel light doesn't even start flashing until I am at ~150+ miles. Most of my riding is just commuting, though. If you are constantly getting on it hard, you might be able to go through a tank that fast, but I doubt it. Maybe some of the trackday people can chime in with what the range is on full wring.

I guess it's possible the that the light is not functioning. Here's an idea: While sitting on your bike take the key and open the filler. Move the bike side-to-side a few times. If you see and hear fuel sloshing around, you've still got gas.

I'd go plastic, to limit sparks in case it falls off/you wreck.

Threw my new Pazzo shorties on last night...they are siiiiiick.

Gasoline doesn't just burst into flames as soon as it's exposed to air, mind... It's the fumes that burn/explode, not the liquid petrol. An airtight can filled to the brim is pretty safe, unless you throw it on a fire.

You sir, have apparently not watched enough Hollywood movies. That petrol (did I get that right?) stuff is liquid death just waiting to explode for no apparent reason.

I wonder how many people get to burn slowly to death in their crashed cars because everyone KNOWS that a burning car will explode like a nuclear bomb ;D

yeah... and those Camp Fuel containers are designed for fuels (gas included) so they are very durable... just toss it in a bag and tie it to the back

those camp fuel containers are strong enough to withstand falling out of a backpack when hiking/semi rock climbing, falling about 10 feet and bouncing down a rather steep incline for about 100 yards... it was dented and the plastic ring to strap it to a caribeener clip on the top of the cap was cracked but the container itself was still good and it did not leak

... and you would only need to put it on as a temp test to see if your fuel level sender works... otherwise you could be pushing... I had that happen once...
The circuit was good so the shop manual test to see if the lights work was fine... however the sender didn't work so the light never came on

YEAH! DO THAT! just dont forget the detonator, and some sharp objects for shrapnel. oh btw, i got a buddy whose got a buddy that gets a hell of a deal on c-4, if you wanna go that route, and just do it right the first time!

Getting back on subject, got to go for a nice ride in the rain today, woo-hoo!
