Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Put on new rear brake pads. Then decided to clean the chain and that whole front sprocket area. Then decided I would change the clutch cable and found that the GSXR one I had was too long so I thought I would put the old one back but can't because it's frayed at the lever and I don't want to be stranded somewhere. So now the bike is not rideable.

THANK GOD I'm not the only one that stuff like this happens to!!! It's the most frustrating thing in the world, and I take little comfort knowing that others suffer the same affliction!

You try to do the right thing and fix things properly, only to find out you've just created/discovered two different problems that need fixing... ARGH!

tried out the throttle lock, it slowly loses speed (or gains and then slows down depending on how i let off). it's just a cat o ring, dunno if i should close the gap between the throttle and bar end or just leave it, works good enough i guess.

rode to a drift event in bfe, 225 miles total, 65.7 mpg. it's at an old helicopter pad (huge, 1950's military whatever) at mineral wells airport. we had permission to be there (cheap to rent) but some bikes showed up towards the end and went to the back of the lot to stunt wearing proper stunting gear (helmets, jeans, t-shirts). at least 1 bike had an extended swingarm, all were doing wheelies, 1 guy went a little too far back (no 12 oclock bar) and fell off, bike went another 30-40 feet end over end. he got right back up but you could see the bone at his elbow, eventually someone took him to the hospital (20 mins after it happened). took like 7 people to put the bike into the back of a truck because the bike was basically in 3 pieces but still held together somehow. the frame was toast.

crazy stuff, they must have picked up all the pieces because i didn't see anything back there when we picked up the cones.

Yesterday I removed the windshield on my '03 S, peeled the sticker at the base of the windshield, washed it down with paint thinner, then soap and water. Masked off the front of the windshield, and sprayed the inside (back) of the windshield with black spray paint. Results: looks almost as good as a $150 smoked or blacked-out windshield. Total cost : $5 for the paint. Looks sweet...

Expected in the mail: GSXR folding brake pedal, Osram Nightbreaker H4 bulbs. :)

Congrats! That's awesome!

I took mine to work today and rode it a couple hundred miles this weekend... nothing special... and today I showed my wife how to tighten the chain on her bike.

I lubed the chain with 30wt. motor oil. Yep, motor oil. One drop on each o-ring.

I did the same thing a week ago and the chain seems to be happy or as happy as chains can be. ;D

Over the weekend I fixed my grip heater wiring. The low heat setting didn't work. The SPI units come with a cheap 2 ohm, 10 watt ceramic resistor with solid leads. The resistor is placed very near the forks in the wiring harness. It took about 3 weeks for the constant movement of the steering to break the single copper wire right as it goes into the resistor.

I decided to use a better resistor, one that would allow me to solder on 14 gauge wire and I moved the resistor further back in the wiring harness to get it out of the flex caused by fork movement.

Here's a pic; the original resistor is the one on top, the cool replacement resistor is on the bottom.

Now the low setting on the grip heaters works again. I needed it, it was 40* F when I left on my 25 mile commute to work. Grip heaters are great.

Changed out my rear craptastic Motrax Micro Arrow turnsignals for some new Lockhart Micro Arrow signals/running lights. They look exactly the same, but the Lockharts appear to be much better quality. Spliced the running light power lead to the signal lead, so both filaments work as a signal. They seem brighter.

Also changed the headlight bulbs out for the Osram high output. It was hard to tell in the garage if they are any brighter, so I'll have to wait for a night ride for impressions.

Went and got my VA inspection for the bike. Passed. Boy, it was tough. Let's see...lights - check, turnsignals - check, horn - check, brake light - check, randomly shine flashlight on one side of the engine - check.

That'll be $12.00 please. Here's your little pink piece of paper, and two new totally craptastic* stickers on your fork leg.

*My adjective of the day. ;D

I painted my ratty-lookin' exhaust pipe today. It's a similar color to the frame, but not close to the slip-on. Looks much better.

Moved the Sv out of the garage to do some service work on my friends Super Duke. He's headed down to the Gap for a week. It's in need of a little TLC. New rubber, chain maint., and a bath. Change the oil and cleaned the 2 screens and installed the filter the other day. **** it's a nice bike, even with out the rubber on.

Last night, we installed the Rizoma Zero 11 turn signals and connected them to the Clear Alternative integrated tail light. They are so bright they're almost blinding! Again, was so involved in the install that I forgot to take pictures during the process. I have the after pictures and video and will post those soon. :)
