Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Tried more camera mounting positions and settings. Not happy with this camera so I may try to return it or sell it after the track day this weekend.

Bled front/rear brakes.
Scuffed front brake pads to remove glaze.
Cleaned/lubed front brake lever. Wonderfully eliminated notchy pull during hard braking!
Cleaned/lubed chain.
Removed mirrors, blinkers, license plate, unnecessary extra parts such as side covers.
Disconnected lighting.
Applied painters tape to front and rear facing lights.
Cleaned wheels.
Checked tire pressure.
Did first purposeful stoppies now that brakes feel so nice. I think they're much easier to do now that I firmed up the front end recently.
Did several small circles at full-lock in front of my house for no good reason.

Now I'm beginning to pack up for the track day, hoping I don't forget anything important... like socks.

If you need an interesting location, check this out - guy posted this on the local board.

Here are the pics of the setup on his VFR. Might not be the easiest thing on a track bike (and illegal?), but you might be able to rig something to the grab bar.

Thanks, MrDan. I've considered making my own camera rigs, but I've found the further out on a lever I put the camera the more it vibrates; it could be how rough the SV engine is, maybe my bike is falling apart, or it could be suction cup setup. Right now, the only non-distorted video I can get is with the camera mounted on the tank right in front of me like my video showed; I'd really like rear-facing shots. The distortion is sometimes from the bike shaking, but it's clearly got that wavy look in it when mounted anywhere other than the tank... the kind of wavy you see from electronic wave interference... or something.

The other reason I'm thinking about ditching it is the image quality. 512x384 video is worse than I thought it would be and anything but bright, sunny days cause a pretty awful picture. Further, I got the non-wide version and I realize part of the reason the Wide is so popular is that the images up close are hard not to focus on and think it's a great image. All the demo videos are with the Wide because it's artsy and that's about the only way to appear you're getting useful footage.

Have you got any kind of dampening system going on?

Finally got the parts to finish the 08 GSXR 600 Shock install.

Not so sure how much I like it. In fact it might feel worse than stock. But I'm not going to say for sure untill I have had a chance to set the preload and make some adjustments to comp. and rebound. But the install went well, its very easy and it does not REQUIRE any cutting, however it would clean it up a bit to trim the tool box, as you can see in this picture....

I had to adjust the chain afterwards, it was too loose. So I'm guessing my ride height is not back at oem as I hoped it would be. I still have to figure that out, I'll measure the ride height later. If anyone knows the stock ride height I would appreciate it cause I forgot to measure before the swap.

Now that thats done...On to getting this thing running...

Changed the oil, checked the chain, and adjusted the TPS. Standby for rant...

...Okay. All you effers who say how easy adjusting the TPS is can suk mah ballz :nana: Sure, it isn't intellectually challenging, but it sure as hell isn't easy. The problems I had finding the connector to activate the diagnostic code display were my own doing. When I installed the FE, I bundled all those wires up, stuffed them deep, and zip-tied them to the frame. Once that was sorted, the real aggravation started.

Adjusting the TPS wasn't the issue. It was KEEPING the stupid thing adjusted while tightening it back down. I must have through at least 30 cycles of loosen, adjust, snug, check, tighten, F*CK! before I finally got it right. There must be some sort of technique or tool that I don't know about. Either that, or you effers all have three hands and Terminator like strength in your extremely long, skinny digits. /rant

Once done, it seems to be an improvement. I took it for a little test ride, and it certainly seems livelier, but that could have been because I took the ride a la squid with just helmet, gloves, and boots with my "workin' on the bike coveralls". With no jacket, pants or ear plugs, my perception could have been skewed. I will have to reserve judgment for a more in depth evaluation.

Mine was not too far out of wack so I never noticed a huge difference either...

then again I said to fu*&!%@ hell with it after I got it to sit at about 1800... that was about as good as I could get the thing as it always jumped off when I tried tightening it down...

so I tried setting it lower, hoping it would edge up when I tightened it.. but nope it went the other way...

in the end 1800 is good enough for me... some day maybe I'll play with it aain but not any time soon.... perhaps I'll mess with my power commander and tweak it to compensate...

Yesterday: paid $30 to have the suspension tuned finally and then ripped it through ~50 laps of MSR (Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Raceway) for my second track day. Had a great time and it didn't let me down, nor did it fail to surprise the crap out of literally every liter bike and 600SS in Level 2. Yeehaw! I've actually got a little follow-up log I'm writing for my track day thread.

A few days ago I noticed that my rear brake fluid was kinda brown, so I flushed both front and rear with new fluid. Not hard, but tedious. It's gotten very hot in my part of the PNW, so sweat was the order of the day.

After the brakes, I checked the chain slack and cleaned it to perfection. A nasty job for sure. Lubed it up and took a test ride.

The brakes are firm and solid. The chain is happy to be rid of all the grunge.

The SV is ready for the commute to work tomorrow on twisty roads.

Edited to add: I also adjusted the rebound damping on the ZX14 shock. It's getting better all the time. Right now it at: 16mm of threads showing (preload), 2 turns from full clockwise on the rebound, 2-1/2 turns from full clockwise on the compression.

Removed gear shifter + rearset. Stripped that @#!$! bolt on the backside. Waiting on delivery of one of those bolt/screw extractor kits.

Even contemplated putting my (way turned down) oxy-fuel torch to the sucker to break the blue loctite.

*sigh*

Installed a 2002 GSX-R1000 shock on the 2003 copper SVS. Trimming the battery box is way freakin' easy with a rotozip tool. Then it wouldn't start. Thank God I remembered that stupid tipover sensor. I really want that gone.

Put on a set of race takeoffs. It's a little weird riding on the street with a front slick, but it's not like I'm gonna hit water in SoCal in August.

Almost done with her. I want to swap rearsets with the 2007 SVS, as the later ones are lower and further back, and the 2003 is the one I'm commuting on. And the solo seat cowl. That's a necessity.

Rode it up to Shaver Lake and back a few times (vacation weekend with one work day in the middle...ugh!). Riding in the mountains in the dark is only fun with your high beams on...lol. Just got my spare seat in the mail from Ebay, so I'll be working on reshaping/padding that soon.
