Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.
What did you do to your SV today? (mods, farkles, maintenance, etc)
Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.
washed it for the 1st time.. Then took it to work for the 1st time, never had a slower work day. Cant wait to wake up and ride again. (only 55 miles on him);D
I washed it at the car wash so I could help the flaking water-pump cover look even more deteriorated.
Then I took pictures of my undertail to post sometime.
Then I came up with a plan of action for sealing up and weatherproofing my undertray compartment.
....and came up with adjustments for putting the new clipons on.
Received & installed Motosliders. Next up on the list, replacing the jacked-up brake levers (mangled because of a little lowside action a few months ago), and probably some smaller turn signals for the rear.
Fun story about the fender eliminator I made: the license plate hung straight down from the undertail at first, but the next day I must've hit a bump or something because when I got to my friend's house the license plate was curled up towards the front of the bike and a bunch of paint was worn off. So now the plate is angled back a bit and it's been smooth sailing ever since.
Yeah, there's a bar on a hinge... one end goes around the plug, the other is 14mm I believe... works better than anything else I've found. There's alot of cool s--t in the tool kit. Might not be the best looking stuff, but it gets the job done.
CRG bar end mirrors with "custom" bar ends (turned down a groove in the stock bar ends to accept the mirrors). It is nice to be able to see what is going on behind me! I also picked up a Pit Bull Forward Handle Rear Stand. I went ahead and cleaned and lubed my chain even though it wasn't due for another couple hundred miles just because it is so easy now.
My new to me '03 SV1000N. Lets just say SVrider forums have influenced me and cost me some $$. Here's the before pic.
Over the past 6 weeks or so since I bought the bike here's the minor mods that have been done.
Yoshi set of bolt ons.
bar end mirrors
tail cover
new black levers
removal of batman windscreen(f-15 off ebay I think)
removal of factory chrome mirrors.
removal of blue levers(ugh)
Here's how "hooligan" looks now.
Just got inside from a wash & wax. In the process I discovered that I have a crack in my front fairing from where I dropped it almost three months ago. Obviously it's not much of a crack if it took me three months to notice it, but I'm still a little bummed.
removed my wheels to get the tires changed so that i can save over a hundred dollars in labor. the dealer charges $135 to remove and change the tires... a little steep in my opinion... removing the wheels took about 10 mins. ;D
I debadged my lady today once I got home from a quick jaunt for gas and spin around the block. Still having troubles removing the rear SUZUKI sticker b/c the PO pulled a wheelie and scrubbed the tail up some, so I gotta go get my girl's hairdryer and some Goo Gone to remove it. Kept the manufacturer sticker on the frame for nostalgia though =)
I installed an ON and OFF switch to my ignition wire under my tail compartement, way better than an alarm and only $5. I would create a how to, but I do not know how to create my own thread so if someone reallllllly wants to know how, you know what to PM me (instructions). Im not computer illiterate and ive tryed to find it in the FAQ and the noob threads, it just must not be on my screen, whatever it is. HELP.
I also got plates for my SV today bought it on Sunday and put over 200 miles on it since on my old plates that expired a month ago. I couldn't wait for registering it to ride it. So I'm finally on the road legally. It feels good!
put on black vortex clip-ons and rode to Americade(pretty decent sized "touring" rally in lake george ny) with the guys and fam........had a good time and ate too much ice cream
