I'm giving up giving up things for lent.

I say we do anti-lent. A week of unhindered and unabashed gluttony.

I was raised catholic, but gave it up aeons ago. I'm not anti-religion, per se. I respect everyones right to whatever deity they see fit to throw their virgins to.

good lord no. Can you imagine how hard it would be to work that off? My wife would get broken.

But I'm not joking. It follows a theme... for example, the only New Year's resolution that I ever kept was to never make another New Year's resolution again.

last new years I resolved to quit smoking. I haven't had a cigarette since.

D00d, did you miss where I said I am not religious? I haven't practiced religion in a very long time.

Other religions think that Catholics are crazy idol worshipers what with the little statues of Mary (crying or not) and view of the pope as a near deity.

I understand that. but I'm not Catholic. I was raised Catholic but I am not catholic. If anything, I'm an agnostic. Hence the lol wut.

excellent post. Many folks do not realize that innumerable books used by orthodox sects of christianity were simply thrown out in 325 CE (AD for those who prefer). The "word of god" was essentially assembled by Roman edict 293 years after the death of Jesus. Which is ironic, since the Romans were the ones responsible for his demise in the first place. Certainly other leaders of the wide ranging christian "kingdom" were there, but the resulting gospel was overwhelmingly drawn from the Roman Catholic canon.

I hear ya. I only know because as I mentioned earlier on, I was raised in a pretty strict hispanic catholic family. No offense intended hoss.
