How do you delete a thread? I see the edit option but that seems to just let me edit the title.
Only moderators and admins are able to delete a post, as needed, for situations such as duplicate posts. Simply report the post for staff assistance. If a thread is deleted, it then deletes all the responses and thus other people’s posts too. Or, when deleting a post, people may respond. Then, if you delete one post, the following posts will not make sense - because one is missing it, it destroys the understanding and flow.

How To Create A Signature

Your signature can include up to 4 lines, a maximum of 1000 characters and one link. An image counts as a line. Anytime you hit "enter" on your keyboard, it will automatically go to a new line. Images will automatically be resized to 300 x 200 pixels. You can see more options in your settings to collapse signatures, always view full signature, or to not see signatures at all. The choice is yours.

Both guests and members can view signatures.

If a user has their preferences set to the default they will see collapsed signatures as in the example below for them. (They can click to see more.)

If a user has their preferences set to always show expanded signatures it will look like the example below for them. Your image can be clicked to view full size.

If you want to adjust your preferences for signatures you can click on your avatar near the upper right-hand corner of the site and select account settings.

In the left side navigation, you will see an option for preferences. Click it.

Scroll down to content options and select your signature preferences.

I wanted to take a moment to assure you that we are listening to all the feedback. That being said, this site is supported by ads. As you already know, that’s how we keep the lights on around here. As it turns out, servers, bandwidth, security, and maintenance aren’t free. ;)

We are working with our development teams to also introduce a new premium membership for purchase in the coming weeks that will allow members to view the site ad-free.

Seems the "Edit" button is gone again.
How To Edit A Post

Click on the 3 vertical dots next to the timestamp. Select “Edit”.

Members have unlimited editing of new posts for the first 24 hours after posting. Up to 10 existing posts (older than 24 hours) may be edited per week. More editing will be allowed as each of those 10 edits expires every 7 days.

I really liked the location, bikes owned and milage under user names on the old site. Any chance of bringing it back?

One of the MAJOR problems with this new site is the signature. Unless you go into your settings to redo those, they are automatically reduced so you don't see much. Notice the ">show full signature" in most of the posts? There is a way that those can always be shown fully, but you have to figure out where that is. The VS people don't want the full signature as it uses room they want for other stuff I guess. There is also a limit on size/lines/pics of a signature....

I'm too computer challenged to do any of those things, including posting photos. Really frustrating.

We are rolling out a fix for this in the next few days, so yes. They'll return soon :)

If you need any tips for any functions, let me know and I can throw together some how-to's

Under the previous software, and on many other sites, there is a button for 'Mark all forums as read'. If it exists under this software, I can't find it.

If it's not there, any chance of adding it?

When you click the "new" callout, there you have the "Mark All Read" button, even if you don't have any unread discussion.

I've come across a number of posts that contain links to older threads. Following these links leads to an error page saying "Temporary Error, please retry".

I noticed a pattern that all the broken links have this format:
Code:
http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=64352
http://forum.svrider.com/showpost.php?p=1004654&postcount=4
http://forum.svrider.com/index.php?topic=85978.msg1076586#msg1076586
The first two links can be fixed by moving "forum" after the slash:
Code:
http://svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64352
http://svrider.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1004654&postcount=4
I don't know how to get the 3rd link working though.

Would be great if the site admins could do something to fix all these links!

Yeah, its a bummer. The old SVRider animated emojis were great.

On the plus side, being able to simply drag and drop images into posts is a HUGE improvement. No more photo hosting necessary.
