Hello all, brand new socal rider here. Just got a 2001N as my first bike. I would post pictures but yesterday on my first ride I dropped the bike :'( Swung wide on a turn, hit a patch of debris and learned about target fixation the hard way as I slid right into the curb.

So now I'm waiting for a new shifter to arrive before I can take the bike out again, in the meantime I'll just spend my time on here ;D

Welcome. This a good place to spend your spare time. Hopefully your part won't take to long to get to you. Some people use a bolt as a temporary replacement for broken shifters. You just need to drill a hole large enough for a bolt to go through then use a couple of nuts to hold it.

If you search you may find a picture or two of people's temporary fixes. It happens to a lot of people on their bikes. Happened to me. :D

Learn from this. Look where you want to go.

If you stare at the big deep hole in the ground next to the driveway, thinking "Dammn that's a big hole"..........that's where you will go. Trust me. ;)

Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the encouraging words. It's nice to know other people have done the same ;)

Besides the broken shifter and a bunch of sore muscles (I'll be ****ed if I let that bike drop hard), I'm really more upset about the fact that I melted my brand new riding pants on the exhaust. Oh well, it's nothing to keep me off the bike. I'll be giving it another shot this weekend :)

I'm new to the forum too and new to bikes aswell...So i "dropped" my bike too (same day I bought it which was 2 days ago) but nothing really happened to it...I was going to slow like 3 miles lol and make a sharp right...but thankfully I was able to support the bike with my leg that slowly slowly was reaching the ground....I was so worried ...nothing happen to it...I rode on the freeway that day and today on the streets...so far so good
