I know some of you have velocity gear back protectors.
http://www.highvelocitygear.com/home.html

However found this stuff on ebay

Tell me that's not a dead ringer for the velocity full armor set.

And that for their back protector.....

The BP isnt any cheaper, but the full set is. (Than the svrider deal) They also carry armored pants in case you were looking for stuff to match the velocity gear tops.

Well, it seems pretty popular to use that existing Dainese-look. I don't know who made or makes the Dainese stuff, but the Paki companies seem to have the molds. The Velocity Gear is actually made by Cobija, another Paki company. The big difference in the protectors is that the Velocity Gear back protector is certified to 1621-2 Level 2, which has been verified by SATRA. That's even better than Dainese could muster with there versions. Cobija's 2006 line-up has a lot of armor that resembles the Astars protectors. I don't know if the major names are getting their products from these companies as well or not.

Yah, no kidding

Is a dead ringer for the alpinestars stuff.

However the armor that Cobija is selling looks less like the stuff velocity gear than Biko Sports.

Its no surprise though. So many products these days are just relabeled, or have very minor alterations. (tpro forcefield/Joe Rocket speedmaster for example)

Well, Cobija was listed as the manufacturer when a forum member enquired aobut his Velocity Gear piece with the CE reference number on the tag by Satra.. They list that certificate on their "about us" page, but don;t provide any more info on any of their items. The 2006 collection has changed to lok more like Astars stuff, rather than the Dainese stuff of the past, but Biko is still popping-out the stuff that resembles Dainese too, and I think some that look like the Kobe/Komodo back protectors and the UFO Plast design. A couple also look similar to Clover-branded pieces. I wouldn't doubt the Biko is where Komodo and Kobe are sourcing their wares, along with a number of other "manufacturers". If you notice the Biko CE certs, it's hard to match them up with anything Fammz is selling too, as most don't look like many of the items they are selling to me.

It's hard to know if these guys are just copying existing designs, or if they in fact, are making the stuff for these brands we recognize. It appears to me that Cobija has bettered the performance of the Dianese-looking protector, regardless of wheter it's a blatant copy of the oouter shell or not, which is a good thing for us, and shows the importance of a performance standard label.
