I just brought home a 2001 naked, fitted with a Vance & Hines system. It sounds great, however when backing off the throttle to shift, it makes a raspy sound (very similar to what straight pipes do). My first thought is to repack the muffler, perhaps you guys have a better idea? Or is this something I'll have to learn to live with while using this exhaust?

unfortunately, it will do it no matter how quickly I let off throttle. It's not really a popping sound though. I'm sorry that my explanation of the sound is poor at best

I've got an M4 full exhaust and it pops like crazy on decel. I do have an exhaust leak on the rear cylinder (just needs a gasket) and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I doubt it. My exhaust system gives a nice rumble around idle and ROARS at high RPM.

In your case, I'd probably just get used to it :) BTW is it stock jetting?
