Upgrade slipon to full system?

1322 Views 19 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  avc8130
I've got a RS3 slipon right now. For 420 bucks I can get the rest of the system, headers back.

Should I? Im running a KN and the slippon with jetting.

Sound difference? Performance?
I like the look more. Comments?

Any advice? Worth it or not?

Noticeable sound difference over the stock pipe with slipon?
since you have a first gen, you'll get a few HP by doin it. you'll have to rejet the carbs or it'll run like poo.

i doubt the sound will be much different.
It is unlikely you will feel the difference in power. A cam swap would be better $ spent. I doubt sound will change much, I have had slip-ons(2) added a set of headers from a different brand to one slip-on, then went to full M4 system so I have heard several combos. It is tempting I know but I think after all is said and done it will not be worth it.

You can always ask at the alter, http://www.twfracing.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3&sid=ecb3547dea43aea2757749b18155813a

Good luck
ya, I've looked all over for cams but short of custom ground, 700 dollar cams, I haven't found anything.

2nd gen exhaust cams put in the Intake side, intake cams moved to exhaust, couple of new gaskets- under $200
There's a good thread on it in the FAQ section.

Hey man how hard would it be to swap the cams just as easy as changin them or what and how much porwer will this give you with a slip-on and a knn filter and were will the power be like mid range or high oh and what would you need to jet the carbs to like a stage 2 jetting or what
I think what he's trying to say is.....

1) How involved is the swap? How dirty do my hands have to get??
2) How much time it would take?
3) How much of a power increase can i expect with a slipon and K&N filter?
4) Which areas of the powerband will increase? And which will decrease?
5) What kind of jetting would you guys reccomend for these mods??

I rephrased your question cause i hate run-on sentances, and i also have the same questions. :)

Oh thanks man yeh i wrote that in a hurry lol.
DonnieJ had a nice cam swap post that walked you through it,should be in the FAQ section. If not Pm DonnieJ. You will get between 4&5 HP. power is evenly distrubuter, no jetting needed. Northwind can also likely help with this. The cam swap is just beyond my skills,I could likely pull it off but I like to error on the side of caution.

Here is a great place to get reliable info from someone who really knows the sv like the back of his hand. http://www.twfracing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=269 and is not out to sell you something with every breath. In fact it can be quite hard to get Zoran to take your money.

this is what twf said :to move stock intake cams to exhaust side and use 03-07 intakes on intake side. (this is for 1st gen)

If only cam swapping was horseshoes or hand grenades you'd be golden! LOL!
