Hey folks
Took the carbs out of my gf's yzf600r and I need to do a thorough cleaning. I am wondering if an ultrasound cleaner is safe for them? Can I use any kind of soap or solvent or just avoid those and use water? Thanks

I assume you mean an ultrasonic cleaner. If so, I have one and I used it to clean my carbs. Seemed to do a great job. I had some solution designed for cleaning gun barrels and such, and so that's what I used, followed by plain distilled water, then blew it out with compressed air. Seemed fine.

Mine wasn't quite big enough to do both carbs at once, so I submerged one and then the other. Didn't want to remove the brackets unless I had to. Stripped them down otherwise, however, and ran the pieces seperately: jets, springs, etc. Removed any gaskets and o-rings prior to cleaning.

No expert. Just wanted to relay my experience since you weren't getting any replies.
