Waiting for a decent rain to wash the salt/sand away.

Getting that feeling we're real close, though...

Looking at de-winterizing and making the bike road ready over the next 10 days or so.

Maybe once a few of us early birds are out and about we can organize a short 'knock the rust off' ride, perhaps along Stagecoach/Afton again like last year?

i'm in northwestern wisconsin about 1 hour from the cities. Too much sand and salt on the roads yet. Not to mention this 7 inches of snow that is supposed to get dumped on us sometime soon. This is the time of the year I wished I lived anywhere but the midwest. Then when it's good riding weather, I love the region.

Cross your fingers that we get a heat wave in March and then it just continues from there. Weather.com shows mid 40's and increasing throughout March but I'm banking on the metereologists being a bunch of dumb apes and their predictions are very conservative. All I know is that I need to get on the bike soon or I'm gonna go crazy.

Oleg,

I think it was late March when you and I went out (two years ago, three?). You are correct, there was a bit of snow and the lakes were still fully frozen. I still remember that little girl face-planting her bicycle in that driveway...

Last year, the first semi long ride I did was with aschendel, Davin, and a buddy of theirs on a ZX10 around Cottage Grove/Afton/Stagecoach/95; that was in the first week of April, IIRC. I'd been out on short 1-2.5 hour jaunts near home before that.

I remember that ride well: I was very nervous as it was my first real ride...ever.

All went well and I was hooked from that day on.

I am thinking another nice/easy Spring Ride might be in order...

i rode to work today :D

not bad at all (messy / dirty / wet, but didn't slip anywhere). the ice on the sidewalk coming up this little hill to the parking area was a little crazy though.

Wow, you don't miss a minute of riding do you?

That is great, I hope all went well. I am probably a week or two from picking mine back up and hitting the road.

I guess I will just use you as my clock: I just wait 2 weeks after you ride and it should be just about right for me. I froze my behind off with you last Spring (and Fall too)!

Just give me a few weeks and I will be there!

You guys are crazy! I did see Oleg's bike last thurs in his fabulous parking spot downtown. Even with the heated grips, I'm just not ready to bust it out yet.....Maybe with a little arm twisting I might meet up at Bobs for some java though....:coffee: I think I need a few more weeks for a long ride. Those last couple in the fall were pretty tough.

The bike is not going to be out tomorrow, but if you want to have coffee with me, I'm up for it. Bob's is on Lyndale and I believe 26th or so.
