I've planned a trip to Portland ME from Pittsburgh and am just trolling for anonymous advice.
I'm heading out on a Wednesday and will take 3 days to get there, via fingerlakes - Utica NY - adirondacks and Middlebury VT. Weekend in Portland with buddies, then 2 or 3 days back via the Kank, Green Mts and Catskilz.
With three leisurely days each way, are there any sights, eateries, etc that anyone out there thinks I shouldn't miss?

Any other general thoughts welcomed!

Don't know the area, but my advice is pack a few pairs of different gloves. Change gloves during fuel stops and it's like recharging your hands. Just me?

Since you are going through some nice rural country, remember to WATCH OUT FOR WILDLIFE!

Took a ride tonight and last night and both times I've had to avoid hitting HUGE deer.

Talk about a pucker factor.

I'm jealous of your trip. Enjoy!

Cheers.

A couple sweet twisties to check out

1. Illion gorge, a short little twistie near Utica, NY Rt 51 just south of Illion/Herkimer
2 Appalachia Gap , Rt 17, not far from Middlebury, VT

The Kank isn't anything special, there is construction along it too
