New heater in the shed is proving to be a nice addition. I had the carbs off for a rejet and started thinking about my first engine. It only lasted to 24k when a con-rod bearing had a slight misunderstanding of what frequent oil and filter changes are supposed to do. So engine is out once again, I am going to tear it down to check the top end and possibly try my hand at porting the heads. This will be my tear down and build thread.

I went though the carbs once again the other day, found I hadn't drilled the #54 hole that dynojet suggests in the slide. So I did. Cleaned the pilot and main jets, reset the fuel screws to 3 turns out. Found I had 132's mains changed to 136's and bam, better Idle less popping on decell. Only problem now is once its warm it will want to stall out just after you take off from a stop. Im gonna try 2.5 turns on the fuel screws, fix the dragging dyno brake and report back.

I still have my pegs, just need them back on the bike. I see how that could get mixed up. Anyone wanna trade my high mount for your low mount full exhaust?

I really haven't worked/rode my sv in a while. I have been focusing on my truck build.

All that material you took off the combustion chamber might have something to say about your results also. That and hogging out the ports will also lower the velocities. All that stuff you did to the heads is very likely why got those bad results.

Don't mean to be a debbie downer, but slap some stock heads on and I'm pretty sure you will get back the power that you were supposed to from the big pistons.

I dont think so, the dyno at work had a dragging brake I disconnected it today made a few runs. When I get a little more ambition to work on it I'll pull the carbs and get a smaller main in it. I think I'll hit 80 no problem with an A/F of 13.25 or higher.
