Okay so I'm turning my frustration into something positive and usefull. So please give me your input on your moto tires. I need product reviews based on what you've seen, felt and used. Please fill in the blanks with what you liked and don't like about the tires you own. No need to write a novel, just a few lines and not "They rock!" , about the tires performance so others can see if this is the tire for them to use.

Also this ISN'T a question and answer thread, just reviews from current users.

Please quote the next post and fill in your thoughts. I'd like to get reviews on these specific current tires for a moto tire post.

Bridgestone: BT-021, BT-016
Michelin: Pilot Powers, Pilot Powers 2CT, Pilot Roads, Pilot Roads 2CT
Pirelli: Diablo Rosso, Diablo Corsa III, Diablo Strada, Diablo SuperSports
Metzeler: Z6, Z6 interacts, M3
Dunlop: Qualifier, RoadSmart (sorry no D220 it's discontinued)
Avon: Viper Sport, Azaro ST
Continental: Sport Attack, Road Attack

Thanks for your help now to help others in the future.

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Like this if you please!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tire Model (f)/(R): Dunlop RoadSmart (r) only
Mileage (current/previous): Just over 1600 miles
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: 37(r)
Type of riding done: daily commuting
Pros: Dual compound rear tire, very quick warm up time, very stable with great road feel. The tire profile is on the pointy side so corner drop in is fairly quick and there is a slight difference when transitioning from the center compound to the shoulder compound in turns but you'll get use to that after a few miles under your belt

Cons: None so far

Wet performance:
Haven't run in the rain yet

Would by again: Yes

Price paid and where: $134 with 15% off coupon at my local Cycle Gear store.

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Tire Model (f)/(R): Pirelli Diablo Strada
Mileage (current/previous):62,000km's / 44, 000+/-km's
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: 38(r)
Type of riding done: daily commuting
Pros: very good in the rain, warmed up quickly, did well on the Dragon with them.

Cons: due to the commuting, they are wearing a nice flat spot on the rear, so stability is not there anymore.

Wet performance: Very good

Would by again: Yes

Price paid and where: Way too much. Rider's Choice (Toronto, Canada)

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Tire Model (f)/(R): Metzeler Sportec M3
Mileage (current/previous): 17miles (new) / 9,000miles
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: 36/42 commuting, less for twisties
Type of riding done: Mostly commuting through LA traffic, some twisties, all weather and <36 to >115 degrees. Track days upcoming.

Pros: Predictable and grippy. I haven't had the tire skip at all once warmed up in normal conditions and am surprised I got so much out of the last rear tire, but I also run it a little higher PSI for commuting and then lower it for fun. Metzeler claims it can also be used as a race tire, I'll be finding out soon on the track.

Cons: Commute and rain grooves in freeways flatspotted the tire so turn-in was harder.

Wet performance: Surprisingly good.

Would buy again: Yes, this is the 2nd rear.

Price paid and where: Local bike shop, asked not to tell. :) Online is ~ $170 for a rear.

Notes: Tire profile is round. The profile is also a little different in that the rubber on the edges curves around beyond where the rubber would meet the road at an extreme lean angle before becoming sidewall. This means you will always have some sort of chicken-strip unless you actually crash the bike.

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Tire Model (f)/(R): Pilot power front and rear, pilot road front/ power rear
Mileage (current/previous): 10,000 miles? Powers would give about 5000 miles before the wear bars.
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: 33/36 street, 30 33 track
Type of riding done: track days intermediate group, sport touring and mountain carving
Pros: Hot grip is quite good on the track. I was able to ride quite hard right away with no tire warms, dragging knee within the first few corners. Easy to find in most shops. Did a whole bunch of track days with the pilot road front and did not slide it once.
Cons: Wet grip is average. powers flatspot quickly if you commute. Tricky to predict traction at the limit. Powers take quite awhile to warm up for such a dedicated tire.
Price paid and where:
$320, local dealer
Would by again: Yes, but not my first choice

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Tire Model (f)/(R): Avon Storm (f)&(r)
Mileage (current/previous): 12,000+ on the front (still going), 11,000 on the old rear, 1,000 on the new rear.
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: depends upon temp and riding, currently 34 (f) and 37 (r).
Type of riding done: About 90% commuting, once in a while a fun ride.
Pros: Last long time, old rear still had some life in it when I replaced it. I didn't feel like running it completely bald in the winter though. Very easily adapted to riding style with air pressure (duh). My old rear didn't have the typical flat spot, even after 11K miles.
Cons: Takes a while to warm up while riding in the cold.
Wet performance: Very good. Those Brits know how to design a tire to work in crappy weather.
Would you buy again: You betcha.
Price paid and where: Local shop price matches, so I got it from them. Don't remember what I paid. They charged $28 for mounting/balancing.

Mileage (current/previous): about 10000miles
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: recommended
Type of riding done: agressive street, a lot of rough pavement, dirt, rocks
Pros: really good grip on road, comparable to pilot powers and conti sport attacks, more miles out of them - between 3600 and 4500

Cons: don't handle too good in sand

Wet performance: never comfortable in wet on any tire

Would buy again: yes, I have been actually, I think I'm on my 3rd rear and 2nd front

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Tire Model (f)/(R): Metzler Z6
Mileage (current/previous): 6500 before I took them off, still have plenty of tread left
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: 35 front, 37 rear. No track riding
Type of riding done: Twisties, commuting, highway, lots of rain use.
Pros: long lasting/high mileage. decent grip for a sport touring tire.

Cons: mediorce when cold.

Wet performance: Poor/Adequate. Will make it, but not quicklly.

Would buy again: Yes, but only for long trips involving alot of highway.

Price paid and where:
Around $300 from a local dealer.

Tire Model (f)/(R): Pilot Powers
Mileage (current/previous): 5500 (rear is bald)
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: 36,39 street. 30, 33 track.
Type of riding done: track, aggressive twisties, regular commuting.
Pros: Tons of grip. Sticks like glue, even in the rain

Cons: Wore out quicky, too much feedback from the road. You can feel every imperfection in roads.

Wet performance: In-fawking-credible (about 1000 miles in the rain on them)

Would buy again: Yea, but would get the PP Crt's first

Price paid and where:
Got ripped from a dealer, buy online.

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Tire Model (f)/(R): Shinko Ravens
Mileage (current/previous): no idea. I don't keep track
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: I should check that
Type of riding done: general riding/ripping
Pros: freakin cheap.

Cons: Apparently they're much heavier than "better" tires :dontknow:

Wet performance: I hate riding in the rain, but surprisingly good the few times I got caught
Would buy again: I have no good reason NOT to, but will probably sheep out and try something more expensive next time

Price paid and where: My uncle knows "a guy" so we got em for $150/set

-Totally round profile.
-As far as "heating up" time: I have no idea. I usually ride a few miles no matter what before getting into the twisties.
-I put these on last Spring, with The Rally being their first ride. Seemed to stick OK. From the looks of the wear on them so far, I doubt I'm gonna wear them out any time soon.

Re: Tire Reviews: I need your help this time...

Tire Model (f)/(R): Pirrelli Diablo Rosso
Mileage (current/previous): 300 current set 7500+ on previous set
Running PSI (f)/(R) (t)=track: 36/40
Type of riding done: commuting, twisties
Pros: Tons of grip, never had a tire slip even on a few 'pucker moments' getting into corners too hot, even on what are considered "high" pressures both front and rear

Cons: None, 7500+ miles out of an extremely sticky tire? whats not to like?

Wet performance: Fantastic wet grip, just dont go leaning over too far. The last inch of tire on the sides is treadless, rides as a slick at full lean.

Would buy again: absolutely, on my second set right now, dont see any other tire i would rather use at this point.

Price paid and where: Unable to say...sorry
