So I'm riding down the street here today, and I pass a car (#1). He was in the right lane doing probably 35-40 and I was doing 40-45 (35 mph speed limit). I drive a little bit in the left lane until there's another car (#2) in front of me going about 35, and mirror/shoulder check and move back into the right lane. After a few seconds back in the right lane, I check my mirrors and see a car (maybe car #1 :dontknow: , call it car #3) coming up on me pretty fast. He gets within 10 feet of me and makes a move for the pass, but that car (#2) isn't too far back and car #3 behind me almost runs into #2. If he were a motorcycle, he would have almost split lanes and passed me (like some dick on a cruiser one time, whole other story).
Anyways, when I first saw him approaching I sped up, and started going even faster when he made his pass attempt (still gaining on me). So I give it some more throttle and mover over to the left lane, way past car #2, and check my speedometer to see that I'm going 67 mph and check my mirrors to see that car #3 is still very close, but still in the right lane. Stop light ahead with two cars in front of me, so I slow and stop behind them. Car #3 has stops right next to me instead of pulling up to the intersection, and I look over to see a white guy in one of those big colorful hoodies ("thug"). He starts saying something about how I "better be real careful" and something about a "b!tch." I couldn't hear everything he said because of ambient sound and my helmet, but I started laughing and shaking my head at his ridiculousness. He pulls up to the stop light and keeps glaring at me through his left-side mirror. Light turned green, but the two cars in front of me were slow enough that he ended up way ahead. I saw him trying to drive as slow as he could though, waiting for me to catch up. I stayed back and made the turn onto my street before I caught up with him.
Now, he could have been telling me to be careful because motorcycles are dangerous or because there might be cops around or something, and saying that getting hurt or caught would be a b!tch, but his tone of voice and behavior said otherwise.
When I first decided to get a motorcycle, a friend told me about how he's heard of people in Miami deliberately bumping into motorcycles with their cars, but I shrugged it off as BS. Now I'm not so sure. Seemed like this guy would have been happy to do it. As a side note, he was driving a beat up mid-90s (?) Mazda Millenia.
Has this kind of thing happened to any of you, or have you heard of similar happenings?
