theres a stupid creep that made a video on youtube , repeating the moment of the accident playing rock music... WTF?! W T F ??!!?
It's weird that the video is available, you would think some people would have respect. When Stephen Murray(Pro BMX now paralized from the neck down) crashed at the dew tour they never showed the footage.:'(

I just happened to see the vid on break.com yesterday and cringed horribly when it happened. I was prayin he was ok but then heard the news last night when I got home. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

I dunno. If videos like this weren't available, you would be deprived of the reality of how dangerous stunts like this are. Reading a short story about a rider dying is nowhere near the impact of seeing something like it.

When I watch MotoGP or WSB I get the urge to go to a track and open it up. But seeing crash vids brings you back down to earth, and gives you the full perspective of the dangers.

Plus it makes you appreciate life more.

All motorcycling is dangerous.

But there are certainly areas of the sport that are more dangerous than others.

Extreme stunting .. double back flips, jumping off replicas of the Arch de Triumph etc .. is perhaps the most dangerous of all motorcycle sport. Blow it and you will likely die or be seriously hurt.

I am actually surprised more guys dont die or end up maimed in the X-games.

I would argue that road racing, especially at a club level is safer or at least as safe as street riding.

Trackdays seem the most sensible choice of all ... no cars, no trees, no telephone poles, no armco barriers and no real pressure. (and no, I am not just pimping my SVR trackday).

So dont be put off by the track ... its probably safer than your street rides by a long shot.

I'm definitely thinking of a trackday. But I don't know whether I should run in my Metz Z6 (The rear is fairly fresh, but the front has at least 12K miles and a plug in it, but a lot of tread left).

But then I'm thinking of riding to Indy for MotoGP, so if I got fresh tires for the track, I'd change them again for the touring trips. That would get expensive. Though I could always get a second set of rims. But I'm a cheap bastid (oy.. can't even say bast4rd in this place) and storage space doesn't come easy in Brooklyn :/
