Promised some months ago that I would let everyone know how my winter experiment of running nitrogen in the tires went. So for all you guys who said I had wasted my money . . . go ahead and say it: "I told you so!"
Since I ride less frequently in the lousy winter weather, I get tired of having to air up the tires seemingly every time I get the chance to ride. After listening to the hype that nitrogen seeps out of the tires more slowly, I thought I'd give it a try.
The results were disappointing, to say the least. In the 2-1/2 months that I ran N2 in the tires, I had to add air at least as frequently as when I filled from my little cigarette-lighter air compressor. What's worse, it was more inconvenient, because I had to ride to the local garage to get the tires topped with N2, rather than simply doing it in the comfort of my own space.
So, for all you guys considering it, my opinion is that it was a waste of money. I'm now officially $10 poorer for trying it out.
