the 500th thread about cam swaps

i tried the search function but literally 499 threads came up. i cant believe this isnt a sticky. a long time ago someone gave me AWESOME instructions on how to do this swap with detailed pics and all. well i saved the e mail but the links are no good now. SO. i need all that info again as a friend of mine is looking to do the swap. please point me to GOOD thread.

It's sticky'd over in the FAQ, in the engine and transmission section.

This is the 1st gen SV650 cam swap link.

There is a step missing, apparently in the BARF instructions, Check out the comments by Jeopardy98 below, ..

There is a step missing, which is: after installing the front camshafts, advance the engine crank to TDC for the rear cylinder, (when you see R in the indication hole), before doing the camshaft swap on the rear cylinder..
if you do what he wrote here you will bend your valves.
Yes, rotate 360 degrees counterclockwise back to the F to do the rear.

:) and definitely check it all out before you start your engine, because I have seen this discussion on the rotation on several threads now that you mention it.

I cut and pasted the instructions that I received from my buddy who is an Air Force Jet Mechanic, and he did tell me about the error, and that he discovered it on bench when he went to manually rotate the engine to check the timing,

I have an engine for my bike being done right now, so thanks for the heads up, I will amend the original post,
