Hello folks,

I’ve joined the horde of 1st gen owners with post-crash broken tachs. Anybody know what this thing with coils is called and if it’s possible to find a replacement? There is a small plastic bit that’s supposed to keep the arrow’s shaft aligned that broke off and I’m out of ideas of how to fix it.

So I found out this type of tachometer is called an air core gauge. The coil thing is an air core motor. They are pretty hard to find as a standalone item. I saw a few on eBay from old cars for $25 or so.

In other news, I figured out that using the motor from the speedometer works just fine ( I had another broken set off eBay ) but it's not the same size / attachment point so would need to figure out a way to shoehorn it into the tach's pcb board.

Only doing this for the fun of it, I realize ordering a Trailtech is much more practical in the long run haha
