Why is it so dang hard to find stock bars for this bike?

Plenty of clip ons available.. I just don't see any N bars.

I'm thinking of the bike master Daytona bars if I can't find stock ones.. I think I have something similar on there now, but the clutch side has a good bend from a tipover and the clutch lever isn't quite parallel. It's driving me nuts

They don't have to be SV specific just 22mm so maybe....

Or see if Mad8skillz has some ?

HTH :)
These look ok

And I wonder what exactly is the difference between 1st and 2nd gen bars?

I doubt there's very much. Handlebars are mainly pretty utilitarian in design. I swapped a fair few 22mm bars on my old Hondas and even chopped the bars down a bit as a pair was a little too wide for my liking. At that price I'd take punt :D

BTW. That ad wrongly included Harleys which are normally 1" Diameter. Japanese are TTBOMK always 22m/ 7/8".

I have a black one for sale with a slight bend on it. For sale $7
2017 SV650
Handlebars are quite standard.
I currently have a gen 2 handlebar chrome on the gen 3 bike 2017.
Fitment is same, thickness+length. Only difference is that one is chrome, the other is black.

If you go aftermarket, I would recommend ProTaper bars. They are much stronger.
You also have the option to go to a fatter, thicker diameter bar, which is 1-1/8 inch. This is larger than stock which is 7/8 inch.
One thing I found out trying many different bars, steel vibrates MUCH more than aluminum.
I suffer from industrial VWF ( Vibration White Finger ) and a Damaged shoulder from an Industrial accident which means I'm very sensitive to vibrations. What I have found is that what the bars are made of does not increase or decrease the vibrations but moves the fundamental frequency that is affecting them.

Bar end weights also do this but depending on their design can also reduce the effect.

If the bars are vibrating at all it's usually a sign that the Carburettors are out-of-sync or in EFI systems the fuel bodies. It's pretty easy and not to expensive to balance Carburetors as per,

I understand you need a special tool for doing EFI so it can be expensive so it might be a job for a Motorcycle shop.

I check and balance my Carbs around twice a year and my old 99 is virtually vibration free all through the Rev band and under different engine load conditions :)

This makes sense.
My wifes Z400 is a vibrator, seriously.
Im not sure what fundamental frequency has moved but I can say with 100% certainty that installing aluminum bars on her bike and mine make a huge difference in the vibration in the bars.
I wish carbon bars are available for our bikes. I know going from aluminum to carbon on both my road bikes and downhill bikes also make a difference in vibration.

Does the Z400 have carbs ?

If so,

I've got the VWF thing too. Ring and pinky . Mostly happens in winter with the snowblower but occasionally with lots of manual work which I try to avoid

Fortunately all my bikes have 90 degree engines and there is little to no vibration to bother

The cheapie Krator bars via Amazon are on the way, will try and fit those and report back.

It's not just the white finger that vibrations cause but on a long day out Hand-Fatigue and cramping. I get none of those if I keep my Carburetors well balanced :)

True. Good part of maintenance is carburetor sync. It makes a Big difference. And only takes a few minutes

Well, the Krator bars were a fail.

Too high of a rise so the cables ended up short and the grip length was too short. They might be more suited for something like a Grom..

Guess I'll either keep my eyes open for OE bar or try some other rental bar

No VWF here, just the arthritis in my wrist not tolerating the stock bend. The less bendy, similar rise Bike Master Superbike bar went on my G1 naked no probs, though I think I shortened it a bit.

Good to know if the 2g bars don't work out

2g bar is here. Have not installed yet, but dang near identical bends to the bar I have now.

As I held up the stock bar to examine, the damage to my current bar is Very evident. The left side is off by at least 1"! May explain the funny steering feel lol
