hello all.

I blew out my radiator, off roading in the desert with my 1000 with a twist.

and I was foolish enough to let the engine temp spike to 235.F

I know I know.

but need less to say my radiator is toast so I need your help.

if any one has any information on a new or used radiator for the 1000.
preferably a four cell one. or a larger one so this is less likely to happen again.

any help would be great.
thanks for looking and any help.

Back on topic..did the rad spring a leak?? what makes it toast??

Also, that Gen I front bodywork may not have helped the airflow situation around the rad....just a thought.

yes it leaks like a sieve.
I have tried patching it with every thing I can think of even ground pepper and nothing. so now I am looking at getting a new one. or a larger one hopefully larger so this is less likely to happen again.

now I had though
about the air flow issue but that is why I placed the front end 1,1/2 in above stock positioning.

but why this had happened is the bike was not moving fast enough to cool off the radiator. so the temp keep going up. witch is a problem with the CA 1000s. there designed to run hotter then other 48 state 1000s. since hotter bike are cleaner bikes.

As you have found SV1K rads are hard to come by. When I started parting out mine that was the first thing to go. Good luck.
