Your looking for the rebound setting? I would worry more about setting the sag and then play with the rebound until it works well for your riding/situation. stock settings on a 1000 probably wont work well on the 650.
And for reference stock shock is 3/4 turns out from stiffest position for rebound. Stiffest being turned all the way clockwise. Compression is 2-1/4 turns out from stiffest. Thats straight from the service manual.
