Ok, so it seems that everyone says the search on here sucks. I tried searching and couldnt find anything about this. I am wondering if anyone knows of a throttle mod, like the R6 throttle tube, for the SV1000.

Just a few minutes ago, I installed an R6 throttle tube on my 2003 SV1000S. It did not change the throttle in any way. It was a motion pro, and not a Yamaha, but I can not see that being the problem. If a company made a throttle tube and it did not have the same throttle response as stock, I feel like people would go nuts. You can call me wrong, but I dont know.

Anyway, is there another throttle tube that works for the SV1000 that I dont know about?

Thanks

This has been the reason I have strayed from this mod for my 1k:

"However. we recently learned that because the Gen II nakeds use a different throttle housing, that the stops on the throttle tube do not direcly line up with the stops inside the Gen II S's throttle housing. If riders allow the throttle to slap closed, over time the mis-aligned bits will wear out and allow the throttle to skip past the stops. With this knowledge, we really do not recomend this mod for Gen II S-models."

The site is talking about SV650's but I have taken the "gen II S" designation to also refer to 1k's. Im not sure why the tube did not seem to change anything when you installed it however.

Ok, cool. Thanks. I dont know why it didnt do anything tho, I am gonna do some more research and see what I can come up with. Also, for example, a 2003 SV1000S and a 2003 SV650S use the same throttle housing but not the same throttle tube. I have a feeling that the 2003 SV1000S throttle tube does the same to an SV650 as the 04 R6 does. I am going to check in a SV650 very soon and again, let people know. This would be a better mod than the R6, becuase you would not have to cut anything. And you dont have to cut anything, because the 650S and 1000S us the same throttle housing. Again, I need to confirm this for sure, so wait a little for me to get back to you all.

Ok, so after some research, this is what I came up with. Up thru 2005, all R-6 use the same throttle tube, part #5SL-26240-01-00. From 2006 til now, they use that same part number for the "S" model, but all the other R-6 models use a different one, part #2CO-02640-00-00. I might go to the dealer and get both, and see if there are any real changes, or if it just a different grip or something. I will let people know if I discover the cams are different. If I do this, I will also compare it to the motion pro with a pair of calipers.

Take off the throttle tube... Compare the two side to side....

The R6 should have a larger drum, where the cables roll over the tube...

Make sure you properly adjust cables at the throttle bodies and fine tune it on the cables...

I had this on my SV1000 but it really isn't needed I don't think for the SV1000 maybe the 650 but the 1000 has enough grunt off the line at least that is what I found out about it when I tried and sold it afterward... Not only that it maked my take off less smooth then with out it.

Well yeah you got the older R6...

The one I have on my SV650 is 2-3 mm bigger drumb or cam...

You do have to understand that you are not changing the engine power... You are just getting 100% throttle in 1 twist of the throttle, Not 1 and 1/4 twists of the throttle...
