SV OEM tail cowl question

1213 Views 10 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  DANCOOL123
Can I snap the back seat back on after the tail cowl is installed? I like the sporty look when riding solo, but it would be nice to double up with the wifey on weekends.

Thanks for the help.

ya the cowl and rear seat are interchangable. take my cowl off all the time and swap the seat on to take the wife for a ride.

Just did it this afternoon. Even though she's got a GSX-R 600, she wanted to take a ride on the back of the SV. Go figure.

I'm about to mount a top case on another rear seat, that way I can (within 2 minutes) switch between; seat, cowl, top case.
Check your state laws -- in some states the grab rail is required as well as the seat itself. So if you swap the cowl for the seat, make sure you swap the grab rail back in there as well.

the seat will snap back on.....but.....

no grab bar without like 3 min of wrenching
Use one of these with a socket & your fav power drill/driver.

Thanks for all the feedback - much appreciated.
I just leave the grab rail installed. The cowl fits with the grab rail on my bike.

There should be a love handle exemption to that law.
I did not remove the grab rail either, mainly because it is easy to grab getting the bike off an on the rear stand. So swapping the seat with the cowl takes seconds.
