Have you set your sag yet w/o luggage? I suspect you could check it with and w/o luggage and adjust accordingly. You want more preload for more weight. I carry my wife (~105lbs) occasionally on the back of mine and I refuse to redo my preload. I have a nice aftermarket shock with rings and it is still a knuckle busting, multiple expletive event. The bike handles fine with her on it. It may steer slower, but I'm not out for knee dragging with her onboard anyway.

i drilled a couple of holes in the shock-preload-adjuster-tool and attached a 12" long metal extension to it with a couple of small nuts/bolts.  it's *way* easier and less frustrating to adjust my shock now.  having said that, i still don't bother adjusting it half the time when my wife (~115 lbs) gets on-- it handles good enough.
