Suggestions for shorter side stand after lowering

2071 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Looni2ns
I recently purchased a 2008 SV650N and had it lowered by 2". Fits great, but now the side stand is too long and the bike stands too upright when parked, making it precarious at times. Has anyone had any experience with this and can suggest the best options? Thanks.

A buddy of mine's wife had her's lowered. They cut the weld for the plate at the bottom of the side stand, chopped off a couple inches from the stand, then welded the plate back on. Works like a charm.

+1, this is what was done to my wife's GSX-R that was lowered.
That's about it. Don't try to bend it, with or without heat. Either way the stand would be weakened considerably.
We did that when I lowered my Bandit. Bought a used one on fleabay and had a welder cut it. Can't tell it's been shortened. Kept the original kickstand which we put back on when I raised the bike back up.
