Here is the deal my rear tire is just about gone and i have 6400 miles. What i would like is everyone to pitch-in and answer the following questions about their stock tires.

I am trying to figure out which front I want to run and doing a rear tire today so the front is left til next weekend. I am on the interstate 90% now and ride in the rain as well. my rear stock got replaced @ 4,700 due to the dealer not being allowed to plug or patch the tire. IIRC I measured 5/32" tread left on it.

Hi, I have put a little over 10k on my stock rear tire...mostly freeway, but alot of canyons as well. It was bad when I replaced it, not down to the cords but it would kick out sometimes with a hard down shift. I've ridden it on every type of road surface you can imagine. I'm about 5'11'' and weigh about 160. I still have the stock front tire with 16.5k on it and I think I need a new one. It's not bald but it's worn in a weird way... not in the middle and not in the edge, if that makes cents. There are also little cracks all over it. I was an idiot and didnt check the front pressure for a while and it was low so that might of helped with the uneven wear. The back tire I have on now has about 6.5k on it and it looks ok, some cracks in the middle like yours but still enough tread for me.

I ended up getting around to changing the stock dunlop front today @ 12,501.
Put a avon vp2 sport on it , hopefully it does well.

I live on a 2 mile dirt road, so anytime I go somewhere, that means 4 miles of dirt road round trip.

Yes you heard right, only 2600 miles and the stock 220 rear was dead. I blame most of that on the dirt road that I live on. It's usually loose gravel during the summer, and that constantly grinds the tire when riding over it (I estimate that 150-200 miles of the 2600 was on my gravel road). The rest of the blame can be given to the awesome roads here in Western NC! My front tire only had 1mm or so tread left on the sides of it, so it was in need of changing too.

Stock Dunlops- 11,500 kms due to even but complete wear (previous owner)

Dunlop Roadsmarts- 12,500 kms due to buying Pilot Power 2ct's
(these had life remaining, probably another 3-4000 kms, but would have interfered with my riding season so I changed 'em)

I would just like to say i have no idea how you guys put so many miles on a tire??? plus the dunlop qualifier is a peice of crap. I beat that tire down in one riding season. Im just amazed that i'm gettin such poor milage out of tires. I don't just ride straight up an down either I lean that baby over. But my bikes an 05 goin on 5th riding season an already thinkin about the 5th tire. I've had 2 dunlops, michelin using conti attack now. prolly got 2k to go on it but my bike only has 9500miles on it.......lol i just assume i'm gona have to get a new back tire just about every year.

(i did move a yr or so ago an im alot closer to everything so not puttin as many miles on bike so this tire is lastin longer may be able to squeeze it till next year).

I would just like to say i have no idea how you guys put so many miles on a tire???

I commute 110 miles round trip, 2-3 times/week... Perfectly straight, smooth freeway. I've done one 1400 mile road trip and my weekend excursions are relatively short. I'm not a real aggressive rider (compared to the others in my group, I'm quite the newb...), I ride in the back of the pack and follow their lead. Maybe after some track days I'll start going through the tires... Until then, I'll pocket all that cash i'm saving on tires and put it towards some real riding gear so I CAN get on the track...

...No, I do not belong on a cruiser despite my riding habits... Maybe a new Sprint ST, though:rock:
