need to buy a new helmet and want a step up from HJC. No problems with the HJC besides dropping it on the ground.....BTW, still safe to wear it or not. Sat it on my handlebars and it dropped solid on the cement.

My only complaint about the helmet is the fun house mirror effect the lens has. I do like the fit. A little tight on the cheeks, but overall great.

Check out a Shoei, I love mine. Very comfortable and very quiet. The helmet is still fine to wear as long as you didn't crack it. The President of Arai did a video with Jay Leno where he explained that a helmet isn't ruined if it's dropped because there isn't a head inside the helmet compressing the foam which is the cause for having to buy a new one.

+1 on the Shoei! I have the RF-1000, and love it!

has anyone bought from these people? how was your experience?

i am always skeptical of huge deals like this, but it is tempting as i need a new helmet.
Yeah i buy pretty regularly from them and motorcycle-superstore. Good peeps, small time operation and they do their best to accommodate you. The only time i defer to another site from time to time is because of free shipping costs.

Thanks for the info, this is good to know. I don't want to rush a helmet purchase and riding season is starting soon. I will keep my hjc and look around a little. I would really like to try a few on, shoei, shark, etc......We have 4 motorcylce dealers in town and very slim selection of helmets.

I plan on driving an hour to a local shop that has a wide variety, just not sure when and prices are usually higher then the internet.

I've heard quite the opposite, that you should be very careful about using a helmet that has seen any impact, including being dropped. I agree that it's likely still safe to use, but I'd have it checked out.

Don't know about HJC, but most helmet manufacturers will xray it and do a thorough safety inspection if you send it in to them. You usually only have to pay for shipping to them, they'll pay to get it back to you. You might look into that, then if it's still good, just keep it as a spare.

+1 on motorcyclecloseouts.com. They're local to me and very good peeps.

FWIW, I really wanted to buy a Shark and I tried on a bunch of them, but I ended up going with an HJC because it simply fit better. If an HJC fits your head, a Shark might not.
