Hey I think I got a Srad rear shock on my sv650. Well at least that's what it says on the resovoir. I don't know what year it is. I was wondering is it the best shock I can get other then a penske/ohlins. If so, what do I need for a rebuild.

One of the worst shocks for an SV. Too soft and waaaaaaay too long. Unless you need a doorstop or a paperweight, throw it away.

Stock parts aren't made to the tight tolerances as aftermarket. So yes, a revalved, re sprung GSXR shock is better you are still maybe 70% of the performance of a Penske (and you would probably be getting close to 70% of the price).

Stock parts aren't meant to race with. No matter what the bike. That is why you don't see guys in WSB with the stock Showa forks on their bike.
