Hi,

I was out riding yesterday when I noticed my speedo reporting crazy numbers, sometimes sticking at 182mph when I was only going about ~40. At the time I was on the highway in gears 3-5. When I came to the off ramp, which had a red light, my bike died as soon as I shifted to 2nd. No lights of any sort come on when I twist the key.

I looked at my wiring and noticed that one of the butt connectors had come off for the licence plate light. Could the wire grounding out onto the frame have caused my battery to drain? I had to push it to a friends house and will be looking at it in the morning. Should I have concerns about any fuses or the starter?

Thanks for your help.

That was actually the exact same thing that happened to mine. I'm relieved that it was such an easy fix, thanks!

Glad I can help,

Kind of freaks you out when it happens right?
I got lucky and mine happened right in front of advanced auto.

Glad everything worked out well and cheaply for you.
