On our ride to Shasta, my son noticed his speedo reading erratically, sometimes it would display the speed, and sometimes it would display 0. After a while he says it now only displays 0. I am assuming it is the sensor on the wheel. Anyone have this happen, what was solution?
I am thinking of replacing the speed sensor.

Hey, can't answer your question, but I live in Redding and you said you rode to "Shasta". Just nice to know a few local SV riders! Hope you can figure it out! Sounds like a connection??

I had the same problem on mine, I went to fix it myself and ordered the plastic reluctor ring that goes inside of the sensor, because that used to be the common part that would break on the older sv's but once I pulled the wheel and checked, the reluctor ended up being perfectly fine, so I ended up replacing the sensor itself and that was all it took to fix the problem. Pricewise you would probably be best to go with http://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/customer/home.php or http://www.ronayers.com/index.cfm depending on where you live and how much shipping costs.

i'm on my second reluctor ring and am about to order my third.

had the same behavior you spoke off - dealer replaced it once. i just took the front wheel off last night to find that there were two pieces of the ring that had cracked off.

at this rate, i might order an extra one just because i'm sure it will happen again

edit - this is the part i need to order from ron ayers - 34983-21E00 ROTOR SPEEDOMET
