with all the reference posts [and adam's website] mislinked/or dowm in the Sticky can someone please suggest a year+model of the best shock to use for 04 SV with a ~185lbs [without gear] rider?

PS: i'm looking for a shock swap, not an aftermarket model ;D

please keep in mind that i'm looking for the simplest [plug and play, no excessive fiddling or fabbing] swap with the least ride height change.

Thanks you in advance.
Dmitry.

Dmitry, it is best is specific to your shock application. commuting, touring, tracking?

I just ordered mine today (a SVRaceshop RT valved) so I had all this info on my screen:

see:  /Who do ya'll think makes the best aftermarket shocks?/   http://forum.svrider.com/index.php?topic=42240.15
and  /Finally found a decent shock! - WP 3-way/   http://forum.svrider.com/index.php?topic=39169.msg400247#msg400247

EXCERPT from above, slighty updated:

in no specific order (prices are only for comparison circa from mid 2005)
=SVRaceshop modified GSXR Showas RaceTech Valved $375  (bat box trim reqd)
=SVRaceshop modified GSXR Showas BUDGET $275 (bat box trim reqd)
=Elka Double $734 at Traxxion
=Elka Triples are $894
=Penske "Sport" $599 at Traxxion
=Penske 8981 Double $794
=Penske 8987 Triple $1169+
=Ohlins start at $800+
=WP 3 way adjustable for $699 at Lindemann Engineering

I chose The SVraceshop GSXR for the value, is resprung for my weight, has good performance, and my non race needs.

use search button with a few couple of words, penske, shock, gixxer, valve
it'll all unfold.

good luck,
ed

I have been looking for Adam's (avidsvrider) site too. I need his great fork spring/oil install guide.
Hope he finds a host soon.
lots of good stuff -plus we have the same bike!
