A motorcyclist slammed into a taxi at a high rate of speed on Sat night about 12:40 A.M., killing himself and the taxi driver. The taxi driver is the owner of the KAT'S the cab company, and ironcally the motorcyclist is a cab driver and used to work for him. This accident happened on Eastwood rd, one of the main drags headed towards Wrightsville Beach here in town.

This is kind of an odd one and I just thought I would share.

Once again, you guys be careful out there.

sounds like possibly both of them. This intersection has a light that goes to a blinking cycle after like 12:00 or something like that. The cab was turning left through a blinking red light so he technically did not yeild the right of way, but he may have misjudged because the motorcycle was said to be traveling at a high rate of speed. motorcyclist body was propelled into the car.

no- this light is blinking red on the side road where the cab was turning left from, and blinking yellow on the main road where the bike was hauling ass. this road is 55mph through this intersection. The bike had the right of way he was just going really fast.

there are no estimates of speed in the newspaper article i read. Either the cabby did'nt see him at all or he misjudged. There is no info on who's fault it was said to be, seams like the cabby moreso to me. They are both dead though.

I was just talking to a HD riding customer of mine who saw the tv news broadcast about the accident on Sun night. Supposedly the the bike hit with such impact, that it flipped the cab on its side and both vehicles burst into flames.

Today's paper has more details. The lincoln town car did flip over, the motorcyclist ended up inside the car, and he was traveling over 120mph. He was riding a kawasaki of some kind.
